  1. Not a bad start...I'm really glad the defense isn't as bad as it looked the first week+. Not that I'm contending it's good mind you, but that atrocious start had me worried.

    Two things:
The negative - my wife has strep and therefore I'm not able to take advantage of the gorgeous weather to get any of the numerous outside chores done.
The positive - I'm inside doing laundry and watching the kids ... and baseball!

      1. I thought sure we were going to get it, but I guess we'll have to settle for seven.

              1. It's like looking into a mirror showing what we thought the Twins would be.

      1. He must have been concerned we might have getting a little too optimistic.

  2. Kudos to Paul Molitor for getting Pelfrey out of there when he needed to come out and not caring whether he pitched long enough to get the win.

    1. Molitor will LaRussa from time to time, which will drive us nuts, but he seems to have a willingness to look at us ng his pitchers in unorthodox ways. Leaving a reliever in for three innings, bringing in Perkins in the 8th, not worrying so much about leaving the starter in to get battered. I appreciate these trends.

    2. Yes. Very good managing. If the Twins were going to lose this game, it would most likely be in that inning. Pelfrey was all over the place and was handing out free bases. One big hit and it would be a completely new game.

  3. Goodness gracious, this is bad...I mean, on a good way. Four errors (and bad ones) in the first four innings??

  4. Kind of an interesting question, I think: are you better off to use one reliever for three or four innings, meaning you can't use him for a few days but saving the rest of the bullpen, or are you better off to use several relievers for an inning apiece?

    1. Depends upon who the reliever is, I guess. Pressly is really considered the long man right now pretty much, so no problem there. If he's pitching well, might as well keep him in there because the more relievers you use, the greater the chance you find someone that is just having a bad day, which means you end up using even more relievers, especially those that you would want in tight ballgames.

    2. I think it depends. How fresh is your pen? do you have an off day soon? how easy are your pitchers getting outs?

  5. I'm not sure how I'd feel if we were on the other side of this score, but I like Molitor challenging that call. It shows that he's still in the game and that he's still fighting for his players, regardless of the score.

      1. I laughed more at this than I probably should have. Potty humor at its finest.

          1. If there was ever a time for an "in the butt" joke, that was it. You know I can't resist such an opportunity.

  6. I usually dislike having to listen to Hawk for an entire series.

    Usually.

  7. On the downside, the Twins got only a third of the BB that the Sox did, and interestingly enough our pitchers BB three times as many as Sox pitchers did. Also , the Twins had only a fourth of the errors as the Sox D had. On the positive side, Twins plunked a lot of Sox batters.

    1. It's not like the Twins' pitchers walked a lot of batters. As for Twins' batters, when you see a defense playing like that, might as keep taking your hacks.

  8. Got in two rounds of golf today and missed this ga,e. Looks like I have to hit the links more often!

    sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

Is Robin Ventura the manager of the White Sox tomorrow?

  9. The last 4 game winning sweep of a team happened in.... 2014!

June 19-22 against the White Sox.

  10. I don't care if we lose every game we play after this, I will be satisfied knowing that we inched above .500 by sweeping the White Sox. What a series!!!!
