        1. Isn't that his (Joe's) 25th? Which puts him in the franchise top 50 all-time (including Senators).

  1. Cory, you didn't need Stats, Inc. to tell you how many runs the Twins have scored against the Tigers v. other teams. All you needed to do was read my recap of yesterday's game!

    1. I noticed while driving home earlier that he and Atteberry were incorporating all sorts of stats without having Dazzle around to sneer at them. I heard them talking about Nolasco's line-drive rate and swinging and a miss rate.

  2. Watching tonight with Aquinas. He's curious why I'm checking the iPad while baseball is on. I like this kid.

    1. Now he's decided he doesn't like it when I call Joe Mauer "Joe". It has to be the full name.

      1. Also, Eduardo Escobar is very intelligent because "Escobar" is a robot name.

  3. 4 straight swinging strikeouts for Nolasco. That must be a Twins record.

    1. Career 3.84 FIP and came into the game with a 3.83 FIP this season. What you've seen in total this season is what you should expect. His career ERA is 4.52, so maybe this is the year his ERA starts to regress toward the FIP.

  4. Glad they're going to use Perkins with a 4-run lead because "he hasn't been used much" a day after not using him in an extra inning game.

    1. I remember Gardy used to use his closer a lot with a four-run lead to start the ninth and it wasn't just to get him work. I think the thinking is that it would take only two runners to be a save situation, so you would probably get the closer up even if just one runner got on, so might as well just use the closer.

      1. It's the idiocy of not using him yesterday to protect today's 4-run lead that's the problem. If yesterday's game hadn't been close, then using him with a 4-run lead isn't an issue at all.

        1. Yes. I hate passing up the known high leverage situation because there "might be" an unknown high leverage situation in the future.
