Pitching predominates as the Twins sweep!  A tremendous performance by Tommy Milone!  A tremendouser performance by Jose Berrios.  Oh, by the way, Chih-Wei Hu was pretty good, too!  And a walkoff in extra innings by the Kernels!

ROCHESTER 1, TOLEDO 0 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Wilkin Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a run.  Nate Hanson was 2-for-3.  Eric Fryer was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Tommy Milone struck out twelve in eight shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks.  A. J. Achter struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Kyle Ryan pitched 6.1 innings, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  The Red Wings had lots of baserunners, but the game remained scoreless until the seventh, when Ramirez hit a one-out triple and scored on an error.  The Mud Hens did not get a hit until the fourth and only twice advanced a man to second base.

Of note:  Eric Farris was 0-for-4.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-4.  Brock Peterson was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Danny Ortiz was 0-for-4.

CHATTANOOGA 3, BIRMINGHAM 0 IN BIRMINGHAM

Batting stars:  None.

Pitching star:  Jose Berrios pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

Opposition star:  Onelki Garcia struck out two in two shutout innings, allowing a walk.

The game:  The Lookouts scored all three runs in the second inning, getting RBI doubles from Max Kepler and Adam Brett Walker II and a run-scoring single from Heiker Meneses.  The Barons only twice got a man to second and had ten consecutive batters retired at one point.

Of note:  Byron Buxton was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Jorge Polanco was 0-for-4.  Miguel Sano was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Kepler was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Walker II was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

FORT MYERS 2, DUNEDIN 1 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Chad Christensen was 2-for-4 with a run.  Zach Granite was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Pitching stars:  Chih-Wei Hu struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks.  Ethan Mildren pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Roemon Fields was 2-for-5 with a double.  Mitch Nay was 2-for-4.  Luis Santos pitched 6.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

The game:  It was scoreless until the seventh, when an error, a single, and two walks brought home a Blue Jays run.  The Miracle tied it in the bottom of the seventh on two singles and a ground out.  In the ninth, Christensen had a one-out single, stole second, and scored on a two-out single by Mitch Garver to win the game.

Of note:  Alex Swim was 0-for-4 with a run.  Garver was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

CEDAR RAPIDS 6, PEORIA 5 IN CEDAR RAPIDS (10 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Trey Vavra was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.  Tanner English was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Tyler Kuresa was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

Pitching stars:  Zach Tillery struck out six in four shutout innings of relief, giving up one hit and two walks.  Randy LeBlanc pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.

Opposition stars:  Nick Thompson was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his third and fourth) and a walk, driving in three.  Blake Drake was 1-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and a walk.  Steve Bean was 2-for-5 with a double.

The game:  Drake and Thompson each homered in the third as part of a four-run inning that gave the Chiefs a 4-0 lead.  It was 4-2 after four and Kuresa's two-run double made it 5-4 Chiefs after five.  It stayed there until the eighth, when English doubled and scored on a Nick Gordon single to tie it 5-5.  In the tenth, Kuresa led off with a single, an error put men on first and second, a bunt advanced them to second and third, and another error brought home the winning run.

Of note:  Gordon was 2-for-6 with a run and an RBI.  Max Murphy was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run.  John Curtiss pitched five innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
