Minor Details: Games of April 16

Jose Berrios and Kennys Vargas do well in a Red Wings loss.  Gumbs gums up the works for Fort Myers.  Some excellent starts for Cedar Rapids players.

LEHIGH VALLEY 8, ROCHESTER 5 IN LEHIGH VALLEY

Ryan Jackson's RBI single in the seventh snapped a 5-5 tie and led the IronPigs to victory.  The Red Wings led 4-0 after three and a half, but scored only once more the rest of the game.  Lehigh Valley's comeback came against the Rochester bullpen, as Jose Berrios gave up just two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.  Kennys Vargas and James Beresford each went 2-for-4 with a double.  Buck Britton hit a two-run homer.

JACKSON 9, CHATTANOOGA 5 IN CHATTANOOGA

A four-run fourth put the Generals up 8-1 and they were never threatened after that.  Starter Ryan Eades had a rough day, surrendering eight runs on eleven hits and one walk with no strikeouts in 3.2 innings.  T. J. White went 2-for-4 to lead the offense.

DAYTONA 6, FORT MYERS 4 IN DAYTONA

Angelo Gumbs went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double to lead the Tortugas over the Miracle.  It was 6-2 after seven, with a Miracle comeback falling short.  Keaton Steele struck out seven in five innings, but allowed three runs on six hits and three walks.  Logan Wade was 2-for-4 to lead the offense.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, CLINTON 0 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Sam Clay struck out six in five shutout innings, giving him eleven scoreless frames on the season.  There were lots of hitting heroes, with Luis Arraez going 3-for-5 with a double to raise his average to .409, LaMonte Wade going 2-for-2 with a triple and a double to raise his average to .417, and A. J. Murray going 3-for-4 with a home run, his second.  A three-run third put the Kernels up 4-0 and put the game out of reach early.
