Minor Details: Games of April 30

An eighth-inning comeback by Rochester kept Twins' affiliates from getting swept.

ROCHESTER 7, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 5 IN ROCHESTER

Kennys Vargas delivered a two-run single in the eighth to break a 5-5 tie and give the Red Wings a victory.  Rochester led 4-3 after five, but the RailRiders put together four singles in the sixth to go up 5-4.  Darin Mastroianni was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Max Kepler was 2-for-5.  Andrew Albers, in his return to the Twins' organization pitched 5.1 innings and allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk with no strikeouts.  Brandon Kintzler pitched two shutout innings and Buddy Boshers came in to strike out the side in the ninth.

MONTGOMERY 12, CHATTANOOGA 0 IN CHATTANOOGA

Jake Hager hit a two-run homer to cap a five-run Biscuit second inning.  That made the score 6-0 and it was pretty much over at that point.  Starter Omar Bencomo, making his AA debut at age twenty-seven, pitched five innings, giving up eight runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Mitch Garver had the only Lookout hit, going 1-for-2 with two walks.  Daniel Palka went 0-for-3 with a walk, making his average .338.

CHARLOTTE 2, FORT MYERS 1 IN CHARLOTTE

Grant Kay homered in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie and pitchers Benton Moss and Kyle Bird made it stand up.  Felix Jorge had a fine game, going six innings and giving up two runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts to make his ERA 1.40.  John Curtiss pitched a scoreless inning, keeping his ERA at 0.00 in eight innings.  Alex Real homered for the lone Miracle run.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-4, making his average .333.  Real was the last Fort Myers player to reach base with his fourth-inning homer, as the last sixteen Miracle batters were retired, nine of them by strikeout.

SOUTH BEND 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Eddy Martinez had a two-run double in the first and later came around to score to give the Cubs a 3-0 lead that was all they would need.  Dereck Rodriguez had a tough day, lasting only four innings and giving up five runs (though only one was earned) on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  The Kernel bullpen was good, with Miles Nordgren throwing three shutout innings and Michael Theofanopoulos two.  The Kernels had only three hits.  LaMonte Wade got one of them, going 1-for-2 with two walks to raise his average to .361 with an OBP of .430.  Luis Arraez was 0-for-4 to make his average .313.
