Minor Details: Games of June 15

Kennys Vargas has a grand game.  Felix Jorge continues to pitch really well.  A late rally carries the Kernels.

ROCHESTER 4, COLUMBUS 1 IN ROCHESTER

Kennys Vargas hit a grand slam in the third inning and Andrew Albers and two relievers took it from there.  Vargas was 3-for-4 and had a double in addition to the home run, which was his ninth.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-3 with a walk and is now batting .330.  Logan Schafer was 1-for-4 to drop his average to .327.  Albers scattered eight hits over 5.1 innings, walking one while striking out four.  Sean Burnett retired all five men he faced, striking out two, and Alex Wimmers retired all six men he faced, striking out one.

MONTGOMERY 4, CHATTANOOGA 2 IN MONTGOMERY

Kean Wong hit a two-run single in the first and the Biscuits led all the way.  The Lookouts had the tying run on base in both the sixth and the ninth, but each time a double play ended the threat.  D. J. Baxendale was pulled after only three innings and seventy pitches, giving up three runs on nine hits and one walk with one strikeout.  Engelb Vielma was 1-for-4 and is batting .329.  Leonardo Reginatto was 1-for-3 and is batting .305.

FORT MYERS 4, LAKELAND 2 IN LAKELAND

Felix Jorge had another outstanding game and the Miracle built a 4-0 lead before giving up single runs in the eighth and ninth.  Jorge pitched 7.2 innings, giving up one run on six hits and no walks with six strikeouts.  He now has an ERA of 1.64 and a WHIP of 0.92 with 55 strikeouts and just 10 walks in 66 innings (10 starts).  He appears to be too good for the Florida State League.  T. J. White was 3-for-4 with a home run.  Nick Gordon was 3-for-5 with a double.  Alex Perez was 2-for-4 with a double and is batting .313.

CEDAR RAPIDS 2, BURLINGTON 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

There was no scoring until the eighth.  Tanner Lubach homered in the top of the inning to put the Bees up 1-0, but an error, a wild pitch, a walk, and another error tied the score and Daniel Kihle then singled home the go-ahead run, also in the eighth.  Miles Nordgren pitched seven shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.  Luis Arraez was 2-for-4 and is batting .316.  LaMonte Wade again did not play.  Kevin Garcia was 1-for-4 and is batting .300 since being sent to Cedar Rapids.

DSL CUBS2 14, DSL TWINS 4 AT TWINS

The Twins led 3-0 through four, but the Cubs2 tied it with three in the fifth and then took control with six in the sixth.  Edwin Colina pitched four shutout innings before weakening in the fifth:  his line was five innings, three runs (two earned), three hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.  Frandy Torres made his professional debut by striking out four in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing only a walk.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 3-for-4 with a double and is batting .385.  Darling Cuesto was 2-for-4 and is batting .333.  Antonio Tovar was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .393.  Agustin Marte was 2-for-3 with a walk and is batting .333.  Edgar Herrera was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .448.
