  1. I get the feeling that if someone gets to three runs, they're going to win this game.

  2. Since this is the start of the "second half", Santana has just essentially finished his first full season with the Twins. Fangraphs says he's been worth $23.3M while the Twins have paid him $13.5M. (He wasn't paid during the suspension). I've heard many call the Santana contract a bad one. Looks pretty good to me.

  3. We knew this team was going to strike out a lot, but man alive do they sometimes make opposing pitchers look like a late-90's Big Unit.

    1. Twins have had 10+ Ks in 3 of previous 4 games, but prior to that, they had gone 11 straight without 10 Ks in a game. I think Park being sent down has a lot to do with that.

    2. In fairness, this is Justin Verlander, and he's back to striking lots of people out this year. Technically, his K/9 rate will decrease today if this game's rate holds true.

      1. You two know where you can put your "facts"

        Edit: Verlander's beyond 'back' - he hasn't a K/9 rate this high (9.41) since his career-best year in 2009 (10.09).

  4. Dazzle sounded disappointed that Sano didn't level the guy who ran onto the field.

  5. It would be nice if the Twins could at least threaten to do something on offense.

  6. I assume most teams have a bad record when they score three runs or fewer. 1-37 does sound a little extreme, though.

      1. Since 2000, the league record has varied from a low of winning 18.5% in 2000 to a high of 23.1% in 2013. Overall it's been above 20% recently. Not too surprising with teams scoring less over the past several seasons.

  7. Twins pitching gave up these runs this series: 1, 2, 1

who are these guys and what have they done to the meatball tossers we had before?

  8. Stat of the Day: Twins have had 4 runs or more on 4 hits or less 4 times in the last 3 seasons and 3 of those occurrences came against the Tigers. The time they did it against another team came May 21 against Toronto. The Twins had 0 runs on 1 hit vs. AJ Happ going into the 8th inning, then scored 5 runs on 3 hits. The big hits were a 2-run double by Santana to tie the game and a 3-run HR by Nunez to put the Twins ahead.
