Minor Details: Games of May 4

Rain was the big winner.  Another poor start by Keaton Steele.  Zach Granite is batting well.  An extra-inning loss for the Kernels.

ROCHESTER AT BUFFALO

Rained out.  Four of the six games scheduled in the International League were rained out.

PENSACOLA AT CHATTANOOGA

Rained out.

DAYTONA 7, FORT MYERS 0 IN FORT MYERS

It was scoreless through three, but Chris Okey's two-run single capped a three-run third that put the Tortugas in the lead to stay.  They added two in the sixth on Narciso Crook's two-run homer and finished with two more in the ninth.  The Miracle's best scoring chance came in the third, when three consecutive one-out singles loaded the bases, but a double play ended the inning.  The only other time they got a man to third base was the eighth, when Zack Granite hit a two-out triple.

Keaton Steele pitched well at times, but overall it was another rough outing--six innings, five runs, nine hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Sam Clay pitched a scoreless inning of relief.  Granite was 3-for-4 with a triple and is batting .368.

LAKE COUNTY 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS (11 INNINGS)

Christian Cavaness homered leading off the eighth to give the Kernels a 3-2 lead, but Luke Wakamatsu doubled home a run in the ninth to tie it 3-3.  In the eleventh, Wakamatsu struck again, delivering an RBI single that brought home the go-ahead run.  Cedar Rapids went down in order in the bottom of the eleventh.

Tyler Wells struck out seven in five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk.  He threw 89 pitches and lowered his ERA to 2.17.  Andrew Vasquez struck out five in 3.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits to make his ERA 2.38.  Tom Hackimer struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings and has an ERA of 2.63.  Lewin Diaz was 3-for-5 with two doubles.  Cavaness was 2-for-4 and had a double in addition to his home run.  Jermaine Palacios was 0-for-5, dropping his average to .373.  Mitchell Kranson was 1-for-5 and is batting .313.  Aaron Whitefield was 1-for-3 and is batting .310.
