  1. Time must be slower up here because my daughter doesn't finish that up until next week.

  2. The bauble starts t-ball next week. They are required to have batting helmets with face guards. What the hell, man? It's 4-5 year old t-ball! The only time they make them wear it is when they're hitting, which is the art the very bottom of the last of times when they could get hit in the face at this age. So dumb.

    1. incidental viewing of the softball nationals recently tells me that batting helmets with face guards are ubiquitous in that game at a very high level. Maybe this is a good thing, getting the kids used to wearing them before they really need 'em at the plate?

        1. These are exact words I used in my rant to my wife last night. (although, even then they keep them behind the backstop.)

      1. At this age, you're really just trying to see if they enjoy playing. Plus, there's no way trying to hit a stationary all through a face mask is going to make any difference to how well they are used to it when the ball is actually moving towards them, if you ask me. Its just an added cost that's going to make fewer parents sign their kids up.

    2. That is ridiculous. Don't they use a soft tee ball? Even if they have to use a mask when they are older, the batting helmets they use now won't fit them then. The only way kids could get hurt batting at that stage is for them to hit themselves with their follow-through (which is why Little League requires all players to have helmets on when they have a bat in their hands), but that would only hit them in the back of their head, which is protected by the helmet even without the mask.

  3. That was not the result I was expecting last night from the Twins. I was just hoping for it to stay competitive. I bought the tickets and then looked at the pitching matchups and realized we were going to the game with the worst matchup for the Twins. I guess it's why they play the games. We took the Metrolink to the game. It was great not having to deal with traffic or parking, but we didn't get home until after 1 a.m. I'm glad it was a Friday night. After Pujols grounded out to end the 8th inning, the place emptied out. If it wasn't for the people having to wait for the Metrolink (which didn't leave until 30 minutes after the game), I think there would have only been a handful of Twins fans left. The giveaway for the game was a rally monkey in a shark costume, which means the Angels' promo department hasn't had a good idea in 15 years.

Wow. Has it really been 15 years since the Twins were in the ALCS? Junior wasn't even a year old. He'll be a sophomore in high school in the fall.

    1. I remember sitting in the Big A parking lot, although it's nothing like Dodger Stadium's. I also remember folks ridiculing the Angels fans leaving in the 6th inning on a regular basis, regardless of the score... to get home to watch Falcon Crest or some such I suppose.

    2. In the last turn through the rotation, the Twins lost the games started by Santana, Berrios, and Santiago and won the games started by Mejia and Gibson. Different opponents, obviously, and Santana certainly pitched well enough to win, but I don't know that any of us would've predicted that.

    3. The giveaway for the game was a rally monkey in a shark costume, which means the Angels' promo department hasn't had a good idea in 15 years.

Mike Scioscia has been manager since 2000, coincidentally.

  4. Cleveland lost to Kansas City today, so the Twins will still be in first place tomorrow no matter what happens tonight. Of course, it would be preferable to be ahead by two games.

  5. Back from Wonder Woman. Spoiler: she kicks ass.

Unanimous opinion from us was it was very, very, very good, despite the de rigueur fight scene at the end, which was meh.

      1. the Girl was hyped to go, then was feeling sick this morning. So I will take her tomorrow or some evening next week.
