Twins get the Whities again after losing a disappointing 3 of 5 last week in Chicago. Extracting some revenge should be the order of the day as winning these games really puts the Twins in a position of controlling their own destiny, especially since their upcoming next 10 games after the White Sox series are with the Royals and Rays.
Beautiful night for baseball as Ervin Santana on the mound against James Shields. White Sox have played well lately so hopefully the Twins can rise to the occasion. First pitch at 7:10p.
Already seen two different people wearing #23 jerseys tonight: a Dirty Harry and a Bobby Kielty.
And Orlando Ballgame and AJ!
Nathan's retirement must be making folks nostalgic.
orlando ballgame. good memories.
Extreme outfield shift for Mauer
On the stovetop today (because rain. teh rains. all of them) red beans and rice. Oh, oh so nice. And I found a 15 pack of this on sale at whole amazon.
I've never seen a 15 pack before, but I'd like to believe.
White beans with Tasso & hocks for us tonight. Perfect with a little buttered toast.
founders all day ipa was the first I saw for 12.99(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !! !! !! ! ! !), and has been my mardi gras go to. The mosaic promise is a contender if the price holds at 15.99 (just not as sweet as less than a dollar a beer...)
You need to get yourself to a woodmans then. They've got 15 packs of both the all day IPA and Centennial IPA for 13.99 (or maybe 14.99).
I would go broke and unsociable on 15 packs of centennial.
It's definitely a killer deal.
Oooh.
I'd promised Cochinita pibil this week, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Because Pork Belly.
Last night, I fried up chunks of the leftover belly and served on top of a salad. Best. Croutons. Ever.
i have just enough left for one more meal. Tacos, maybe.
I can afford an ice pack and an overnight box, doc.
Kiss, kiss.
Looks scrumptious. What sort of vinaigrette?
fresh-squeezed orange juice, red wine vinegar, garlic smooshed with salt, dijon, black pepper, the olive oil/pan drippings from frying the cubes, and extra oil (canola). Plus a touch of sugar.
You're writing this one up for posterity, right?
Maybe this weekend.
That pork belly is tempting me. Maybe tomorrow (PTO!).
Cory is always prompting Dazzle whether the baserunner is going, or if a bunt is in order - maybe if Dazzle offered this on his own he wouldn't have to be asked all the time. He seems to do this fine when Cory is taking a break
TWINS BASEBALL!!!!!
Buck!

RBuxtIn!
So, this kid is for real, eh?
Nice play by Polanco!
KC with two more scoreless innings. Three left to tie the record.
Whit Merrifield hits a solo home run with two outs to end the streak.
I wanted them to break the streak. if you are going to be futile, mind as well be record breaking futile.
The record was shared with a deadball team and a raised mound team. Teams are averaging 4.7 runs/game this year in the AL. The 1968 NL season averaged 3.4 runs/game and the 1906 AL season averaged 3.66 runs/game. Only reaching 45 innings is impressive.
It seems like Gimenez is really bad at the "catching" part of catching.
He was already at a career high before that last one. Obviously he displays some qualities that both Falvey & Levine appreciate, but I'll be curious to see how his receiving rates over this season in comparison to his career averages.
To be fair, he is playing out of position.
Any solid "Gimenez as relief pitcher" joke needs to be acknowledged.
+1
BP has Gimenez at -2 framing runs, StatCorner says -5. BP likes Castro's framing, giving him +8 runs, but StatCorner really doesn't like his framing, giving him -7 runs. Fangraphs, which doesn't include framing as I understand, gives -2 runs to Gimenez and 0 for Castro.
That difference in Castro's ratings is Spock eyebrow-worthy.
Jorge Polanco : 12 career HRs, 7 against the White Sox (3 against Shields)
puddin' and pie.
A homer, by Jorge!
Keep scoring them runs boys!
If you're a slow, slugging DH, you really shouldn't be taking a lead long enough to get picked off when up by four.
But, hey, up by four!
Again!
Bremer'd
D@mn. Garcia continues to be one of those opponents
Seeing everyday Eddie in the bullpen warms the heart.
Kepler played that carom perfectly.
I was really hoping we'd get pop-up to Dozier, Abreu out on tag by Buxton.
CFer's job to cover second when the 2B goes out on a ball?
I don't think so, but Buxton was next closest after Hildenberger.
That was an ugly bloop. Everyone trying to make the play was almost worse than no one trying to.
Hildenberger had plenty of time to find a handle on that.
He was clearly frustrated with his lack of handle.
So was I
I think it would be good to score a couple of runs this inning.
There's one.
Medium-well, at best.
Jorge Polanco : 13 career HRs, 8 against the White Sox
It's good that he plays in the central and not for the white sox.
Rivasesque!
Another, by Jorge!
Home runs from both sides? Next Mantle!
Smalley, Chili, Doumit, Kennys, Jorge. What an assortment.
Agreed.
Also, I'd forgotten about Doumit.
You've been more successful than some of us. My apologies for jogging your memory.
It was bound to happen.
Jorge Polanco has as many HRs as Kennys Vargas (9)
But fewer Frequent Flyer miles.
The beauty of having zero options left!
He's really saved his career with this past month.
He'd lost his playing time to Adrianza, and he had to be perilously close to losing any claim on the shortstop job. In glad he's put it together (I mean, not "Byron Buxton" glad, but still).
Uh, Eddie?
Hildenberger appears to be one of the things that they've thrown at the wall that seems to have stuck. I like.
I think he was safe.
Fine time for the video feed to crap out.
Erg, Smalley just can't live with a single second of silence.
I'll take smalls over ii
Whew.
Not turds!
