Minor Details: Games of May 5

We should perhaps pay more attention to Zack Littell.  Nick Gordon stays hot.  Taylor Grzelakowski is the only Miracle batter to have a good day.  Homers by Trey Cabbage and Ben Rortvedt lead the Kernels.

ROCHESTER 8, LEHIGH VALLEY 0 IN ROCHESTER

The Red Wings scored two in the second and five in the fourth to take control early.  Jake Cave had a two-run double in the fourth inning.

James Ramsey was 3-for-4 with two runs.  Cave was 3-for-5.  Taylor Featherston was 2-for-3 with a home run (his second) and a walk.  He scored three times.  Jermaine Curtis was 2-for-4.  Zack Littell, in his AAA debut, struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up two hits and four walks.  Littell isn't usually considered one of the Twins' top prospects, but he's twenty-two and he's pitched well everywhere he's been with the exception of a slow start in AA this year.  Alan Busenitz struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 1.29.  John Curtiss pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.61.

CHATTANOOGA 11, MOBILE 5 IN MOBILE

The Lookouts scored two in the first, two in the third, and three in the fifth to build a 7-0 lead.  Their lead was never less than four after that.

Nick Gordon was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.  He is batting .337.  Alex Perez was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.  He is batting .400.  Tanner English was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring three times.  Edgar Corcino was 2-for-4 with a double, two walks, and three RBIs.  Chris Paul was 2-for-5 with two doubles.  T. J. White was 2-for-5.  Zander Weil was 1-for-5 with two runs and is batting .319.  Randy LeBlanc struck out five in five innings, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks.  His ERA is 2.70.  Todd Van Steensel struck out three in two perfect innings.  His ERA is 2.55.

JUPITER 2, FORT MYERS 1 IN FORT MYERS

The Hammerheads scored single runs in the third and fourth.  The lone Miracle run scored on a passed ball in the fourth.

Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-2 with a double and two walks.  Joe Cronin was 0-for-4 and is batting .311.  Brady Anderson pitched six innings, giving up two runs on six hits and no walks and striking out five.  Ryan Mason struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  His ERA is 1.88.  Andrew Vasquez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit.  His ERA is 1.15.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, WEST MICHIGAN 6 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Trey Cabbage hit a two-run homer in the sixth to put the Kernels up 5-3.  It was 7-3 going to the eighth, when the Whitecaps got a three-run homer from Dylan Rosa to cut the margin to 7-6.  West Michigan did not get a baserunner after that.

Cabbage was 3-for-4 and drove in three.  The home run was his second.  Ben Rortvedt was 2-for-4 with a home run, scoring three times and driving in two.  Royce Lewis was 2-for-5 and is batting .356.  Jordan Gore was 1-for-4 and is batting .342.  Blayne Enlow pitched only two innings.  He struck out three, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.  He threw 41 pitches.  It was his first start since coming off the disabled list, so he presumably was on a pitch count.  Randy Dobnak struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk.

    1. I think so, too. He's one of the two guys the Twins got for Jaime Garcia. Dietrich Enns seems to have been the one people noticed, but he's been DFA'd. Littell has kind of flown under the radar, but his numbers look pretty good to me.
