Minor Details: Games of July 17

A tough day for Adalberto Mejia.  Charlie Barnes keeps rolling.  Good pitching all around for the GCL Twins and the DSL Twins.

LOUISVILLE 12, ROCHESTER 5 IN ROCHESTER

The Bats scored four in the first inning and led all the way.  It was 7-2 through three and 12-2 going to the bottom of the ninth.

Andy Wilkins was 2-for-3 with a home run, his second.  He is batting .375.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a double.

Adalberto Mejia struck out seven in six innings, but allowed seven runs on eight hits and one walk.  Apparently they either wanted him to get some work or just needed someone to fill up some innings.

FORT MYERS 5, ST. LUCIE 0 IN FORT MYERS

Already leading 2-0, the Miracle scored three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.  The Mets left the bases loaded in the eighth.

Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second) and a double, driving in two.  Brandon Lopez was 2-for-4 with a double.  Royce Lewis was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .400.

Charlie Barnes pitched seven shutout innings, giving up five hits and no walks and striking out two.  His ERA is 2.93.  It was his fifth solid outing in six games.  Colton Davis struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walk.

The game's lone run came in the seventh.  Yeison Perez reached on catcher's interference, advanced to third on a pair of ground outs, and scored on a wild pitch.

Kidany Salva was 1-for-4 and is batting .320.

Donny Breek struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up two hits and three walks.  His ERA is 2.65.  Regi Grace pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out two.  His ERA remains zero in 8.1 innings.  Junior Navas pitched a perfect inning, striking out one in his GCL debut.

DSL TWINS 4, DSL PHILLIES RED 2 AT PHILLIES RED (COMPLETION OF SUSPENDED GAME)

Trailing 1-0, the Twins scored all four of their runs in the eighth.  Francisco Martinez hit a two-run triple in the inning.

Martinez was 3-for-4 with two triples and a double.  He is batting .319.  Jim Caceras was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Victor Heredia was 1-for-4 and is batting .361.

Jose Bermudez pitched five shutout innings, giving up six hits and no walks and striking out three.

DSL TWINS 5, DSL PHILLIES RED 0 AT TWINS (SCHEDULED GAME--7 INNINGS)

The Twins scored two in the first, one in the second, and two in the third.  Carlos Aguiar hit a two-run double in the first inning.

Jesus Feliz was 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice.  He is batting .300.  Luis Baez was 2-for-3.  Victor Heredia was 1-for-3 with two runs and is batting .360.  Ruben Santana was 0-for-3 and is batting .326.  Jeferson Morales was 0-for-3 and is batting .319.  Francisco Martinez was 0-for-3 and is batting .306.

Jesus Toledo pitched three shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks and striking out one.  Fernando Sanchez pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out one.  Rafael Feliz pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit in his professional debut.
