  1. I've always liked Doc Rivers. And had a soft spot for the Ankle Biter, Danny Ainge. This piece from back in May gives me even further appreciation for them.

Ainge has proven to be a very positive force in the NBA on mental health issues.

  2. We had our (monthly) staff potluck yesterday. Every month we do a theme. This month was soup-and-sandwich-fixins. I made this gazpacho recipe. It was awesome, but virtually untouched by colleagues. So I brought about half of it home and had it for dinner last night with baguette and cheese.

The Mrs...basically refused to try it. "Maybe I'll try some heated up tomorrow." Uh, sure, honey.

WTF? What is so scary about gazpacho?

  3. Thanks to Sears's troubles, I'm the proud owner of a brand new range. One of the Sears in Madison is closing, so we went down there and bought an LG range, glass top and work a convection oven. It looks all futuristic because it doesn't have any knobs. I do have some concerns about making pizzas, but I bought a pizza stone and i figure if I get it hot enough they'll come out OK.

      1. We've got a black fridge and dishwasher, but stainless microwave and oven. I almost wish I hadn't bought the open box fridge because they had some brand new stainless models that were going for about what we paid for the one we have. Overall, I don't really care about matching appliances, but I do care for a good deal.

          1. Fair point. In my defense, I hate moving so I have no desire to try to sell this crappy place.

          1. 99 stores, but all in Cali, Florida, and Oregon. I did not realize they were owned previously by Sears.

            1. It's a big loss to my town. We still have a Home Despot and a True Value, but OSH was the go-to for garden supplies.

    1. Also, I had not previously noticed who is standing next to him on the right of that photo.
