  1. It's the 4th Saturday of the month, which means nursing home singing day. I think we're going to add "Return to Pooh Corner" to our repertoire. There's a great story Kenny Loggins tells about it here. It's Snopes-worthy if it wasn't him relaying the tale.

  2. Turkey neck gumbo is slated for tonight. I was going to make stuffing topped pot pie - line the bottom of a cast iron skillet (or make in large muffin tins), make a pot pie filling - peas carrots turkey little stock little dairy season the way you like - and top the pie with left over stuffing. Bake til the crust is done - you can also parbake the crust to speed things up - and the top is browned. Delish.

    1. hmmm. I have a lot of stuffing left over. But I also have a lot of mashed potatoes and gravy. Maybe turkey Shepherd's Pie??

      1. That's where my first carcass is. I'm pretty excited at the prospect of it being way easier than on the stove top.

        1. I'll be making broth for turkey noodle soup this weekend, and until just now I had forgotten to use the Instantpot for it. I would have been pretty annoyed to do it the long way and then remember the other tools in the pantry. So, thanks for helping me not feel quite as dumb.

          1. I just started making crock pot stock. When I realized that I've been needlessly struggling all these years I felt pretty dumb.

      2. Had Thanksgiving 2.0 with the fam at Hnos Coot in Lake Elmo. They made two pot-roasts and a ham, one of the roasts in the InstyPot. It was delish. Haven't seen the I-Pot before but think crock-pot on steroids. We brought store-bought vegetable platter at Festival Foods in Hugo, but it had Jicama that was past it's prime. -1 WGOM buck.

        1. I've never heard of this instapot you mention. Is it a band I should get into? //beatingadeadhorsejoke//

  3. Local football team won state back to back. Was surprised to get caught up in it, but the oldest is now a 9th grader and it just happens. (Doesn’t hurts that they have one of the best RBs in recent state history running - it was often like watching Tecmo Bowl.) The oldest is in the pep band and I think it surprised her to get into the excitement of it as well.

    1. my oldest friend (met in 3rd grade) now has a stepson who plays for Lakeville North. They've been having fun being the Biggest and the Baddest.

    2. My high school alma mater in Colorado won it's second state football championship in three years today, so I get to have a little Tiger pride for a good while.
