This is another of my absolute favorite songs of all time, and a perfect one for putting the kids into a restful, relaxed state. It does wonders on that front for me too.

I was first introduced to this song in band class, and I prefer straight instrumental versions, but since I often sing the song to the kids (as best I can... no justice is done there), I thought I'd drop a sung version here. Enjoy!

  1. I also love this piece; singing it in a choir is one of my favorite musical experiences. I don’t remember the alto part, but if you’re a baritone, bass, soprano, or tenor, you have a fun part that builds something still much more special. The composition’s simplicity is its beauty. (It’s even more beautiful in Church Slavonic, owing in part to the softer phonetics.)
