NORFOLK 6, ROCHESTER 3 IN NORFOLK

Zander Weil hit a three-run homer in the sixth to cut the Tides' lead to 4-3, but Norfolk put it away with two in the eighth.  Wilin Rosario was 2-for-3 with a double and is batting .307.  Tomas Telis was 2-for-4 with a double and is batting .314.  Weil was 1-for-4 and the home run was his eighteenth.  The Red Wings are 46-49, in fifth place, nine games back.

MONTGOMERY 4, PENSACOLA 2 IN PENSACOLA

Lewin Diaz hit a two-run homer in the sixth to cut the Biscuits' lead to 3-2, but Montgomery put it away with one in the seventh.  Diaz was 2-for-4, the home run was his fourth, and he is batting .309.  Adam Bray pitched two perfect innings of relief.  His ERA is 2.16.  The Blue Wahoos are 11-15, in fourth place, 4.5 games back.

FORT MYERS 4, TAMPA 2 IN FORT MYERS

It was 3-2 after one inning and stayed there until the Miracle got an insurance run in the seventh.  Ryan Jeffers was 2-for-4.  Ryan Costello was 2-for-4.  Cole Sands pitched seven innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks and striking out six.  His ERA is 2.04.  Melvi Acosta struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 2.74.  The Miracle is 13-14, tied for fourth, 8.5 games back.

ELIZABETHTON 7, JOHNSON CITY 5 IN ELIZABETHTON

The Twins scored five in the third to take a 5-1 lead and led the rest of the way.  Max Smith was 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, and two runs.  Matt Wallner was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs.  He is batting .319.  Parker Phillips was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs in his Appalachian League debut.  Trevor Jensen was 2-for-4.  Tyler Benninghoff struck out six in six innings, giving up three unearned runs on three hits and a walk. Dylan Thomas pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 1.98.  The E-Twins are 16-11, in first place, 1.5 games ahead.

GCL TWINS 2, GCL RAYS 1 AT TWINS

Erick Rivera's RBI single in the fourth brought home the deciding run.  Dakota Chalmers struck out four in four innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.  Williams Ramirez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and striking out one.  His ERA remains zero.  Niall Windeler pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  Anthony Escobar pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out two.  His ERA is 1.84.  The GCL Twins are 8-10, in fourth place, 5.5 games back.

DSL TWINS 12, DSL NATIONALS 7 AT TWINS

The Twins scored four in the first and seven in the second to take an 11-3 lead.  Luis Baez was 3-for-5 with a triple.  Rhodery Diaz was 3-for-5 with two runs.  He is batting .321.  Jeury Lopez was 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.   Leyner Ponce struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  The DSL Twins are 11-23, in eighth place, twelve games back.
