  1. Even if they play the full regular season, twenty percent of it is over. It's hard to think of it that way, but it is.

    1. It was a bad call, but in the world of Angel Hernandez bad calls, I doubt if that even makes the top ten.

      1. Good writing, she's super likeable. At YAHOO sports of all places. Journalism and Media is bonkers stupid.

        1. The writing blows me away. It is so quick. I would love to see what she/whoever else is writing this could do with a sitcom.

  2. Today’s sandwich entry—-> the last of my private stock of Schmidt’s cheddarwurst (grilled last night) cut in half then lengthwise, with spicy mayo, a bunch of lettuce, and a slice of conscience because on oat nut bread. Out. Standing.

  3. After today’s blown save, I just want to point out that today is Ron Davis’ birthday.

  4. R. I. P. Horace Clarke, who will be forever associated with the worst (or best, depending on your point of view) era of Yankee baseball, at age eighty-one.

    1. I think you were looking for this

"I lived here for a month you think I should know the answer!" Justin Morneau really cracks me up

        1. Does he? It looks like "Ohio" comes from the Seneca Nation, and the other two names come from the Delaware Nation. Given that the names came from different Nations, it would seem like keeping them all is a sensible solution. The fact that naming conventions are different other places doesn't mean they did it wrong here.

          1. Well, sure. Meantime, can you name any other river that changes names when it crosses nations? I didn't say it was wrong, I just said he has a point.

            1. Not off the top of my head. But let's remember that "Nation" doesn't refer to strict borders in this context.

Anyway, I felt like his point was... unwittingly missing the point.

              1. Oh, I know what you meant by Nation, and the question applies there too -- can you name any other?

The real point was it should have been a 3-second throwaway question instead of mid-game black hole of discussion.

Thank you. My sentiment when I clicked on the clip. Reminded me there's a reason I have the volume off when watching games.

Just like this comment thread. Hiii-yo!

Isn't "black hole of discussion" the basis for most baseball color commentary?

Also, I loved Morny's idea to go to teh Interwebs. That was HIlarious.

                2. Well, a little bit of searching has led me to think that the Colorado historically (pre-"Colorado") had several different names for different parts, in a similar way.
