INDIANAPOLIS 9, ST. PAUL 8 IN INDIANAPOLIS

The Saints trailed 2-0, led 4-2, trailed 7-4, and led 8-7, but the Indians scored two in the ninth to win it.  Michael Chavis hit a two-run walkoff homer.

Batting stars:  Gilberto Celestino was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third), a walk, and three RBIs.  J. T. Riddle was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs.  Drew Maggi was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Tomas Telis was 2-for-5.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-5.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-5.  Ben Rortvedt was 1-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and two RBIs.

Pitching star:  Ralph Garza, Jr. struck out two in two perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  Philip Evans was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Ka'ai Tom was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer.  Chavis was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer (his ninth) and two runs.

Starter:  Andrew Albers pitched five innings, giving up seven runs (three earned) on six hits and no walks and striking out four.

Good stats:  Miranda is batting .329.  Gordon is batting .313.

Bad stats:  Riddle is batting .191.  Garza, Jr. has an ERA of 10.13.

Record:  The Saints are 44-40, in third place in the AAA East/Midwest, 3.5 games behind Omaha.

WICHITA 5, TULSA 1 IN TULSA

Trey Cabbage hit a three-run homer in the first and the Wind Surge led all the way.

Batting stars:  Cabbage was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer (his tenth) and a walk.  Ernie De La Trinidad was 1-for-4 with a home run, his seventh.

Pitching stars:  Jordan Balazovic pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and no walks and striking out four.  Erik Manoah, Jr. made his AA debut and struck out two in a shutout inning, giving up a walk.

Opposition stars:  Justin Yurchak was 4-for-4.  Miguel Vargas was 2-for-4 with a home run, his tenth.

Good stats:  Austin Martin was 1-for-4 and is batting .375.  B. J. Boyd was 1-for-4 and is batting .301.  Manoah, Jr. has an ERA of zero.  Jordan Gore gave up a run in 1.2 innings and has an ERA of 2.84.

Bad stats:  Jamie Garcia gave up no runs in a third of an inning and has an ERA of 5.64.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 50-35, in first place in the AA Central/North, five games ahead of Tulsa.

PEORIA 7, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN PEORIA

The Chiefs broke a scoreless tie with five in the third.

Batting star:  Yunior Severino was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk.

Pitching stars:  Melvi Acosta pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.  Tyler Palm struck out four in two innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit.

Opposition stars:  Jordan Walker was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs.  Pedro Pages was 2-for-5 with a double.  Sean Kealey struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up two walks.

Starter:  Tyler Watson struck out four in 2.1 innings, but allowed five runs on six hits and two walks.

Good stats:  Severino is batting .386.

Bad stats:  DaShawn Keirsey was 0-for-1 and is batting .183.  Edouard Julien was 1-for-3 and is batting .195.  Palm has an ERA of 6.61.

Record:  The Kernels are 45-40, in second place in the High-A Central/West, thirteen games behind Quad Cities.

BRADENTON 8, FORT MYERS 5 IN BRADENTON

The Mighty Mussels scored four in the sixth to lead 5-0, but the Marauders came back to score four in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Batting star:  Aaron Sabato was 2-for-3 with two home runs (his seventh and eighth) and three runs.

Pitching stars:  Sean Mooney struck out six in three perfect innings.  Denny Bentley pitched 1.1 scoreless innings despite giving up four hits and a walk.  He struck out one.

Opposition stars:  Jase Bowen was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.  Abraham Gutierrez was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two runs.  Nick Dombkowski struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Good stats:  Mooney has an ERA of 0.84.

Bad stats:  Nick Garland was 0-for-1 and is batting .063.  Justin Washington was 0-for-3 and is batting .150.  Nick Anderson was 0-for-2 and is batting .162.  Willie Joe Garry, Jr. was 0-for-3 and is batting .178.  Sabato is batting .190.  Misael Urbina was 1-for-4 and is batting .194.  Will Holland was 1-for-4 and is batting .196.  Matthew Swain allowed four runs in one inning and has an ERA of 5.19.
