A solid game for Yennier Cano.  Cole Sands is nearly unhittable.  DaShawn Keirsey is starting to hit.  So is Jake Rucker.

OMAHA 3, ST. PAUL 2 IN ST. PAUL (10 INNINGS)

Ryan McBroom singled home the deciding run.

Batting stars:  Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-4 with a home run (his ninth).  Drew Maggi was 1-for-4 with a home run (his sixteenth).

Pitching stars:  Yennier Cano retired all ten men he faced, striking out one.  Nick Vincent struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Emmanuel Rivera was 2-for-5.  M. J. Melendez was 1-for-4 with a home run (his ninth) and a walk.  Jake Kalish pitched 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and no walks and striking out five.

Starter:  Bryan Sammons pitched 3.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and four walks and striking out two.

Good stats:  Gilberto Celestino was 0-for-4 and is batting .313.  Tomas Telis was 1-for-5 and is batting .307.

The Wind Surge scored three in the third to take a 4-0 lead.

Batting stars:  Spencer Steer was 3-for-4 with two runs.  Leobaldo Cabrera was 2-for-4 with a home run (his eleventh) and three runs.  D. J. Burt was 2-for-5 with a home run (his third) and three runs.

Pitching star:  Cole Sands pitched six shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks and striking out five.

Opposition star:  Meibrys Viloria was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his third.

Good stats:  Roy Morales was 1-for-5 and is batting .309.  Burt is batting .304.  Kody Funderburk gave up two runs in three innings and has an ERA of 1.02.  Sands has an ERA of 2.63.

Bad stats:  None.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 65-49, in first place in the AA Central/North, three games ahead of Arkansas.

WISCONSIN 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 4 IN WISCONSIN

The Timber Rattlers took a 4-0 lead through two innings and never trailed.

Batting stars:  Jair Camargo was 3-for-4.  DaShawn Keirsey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.  Aaron Sabato was 2-for-5.

Pitching star:  Steven Cruz struck out three in three innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Joey Wiemer was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his eleventh) and two runs.  Antonio Pinero was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer.

Starter:  Tyler Watson pitched three innings, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks and striking out three.

Good stats:  Jeferson Morales was 0-for-1 and is batting .326.

Bad stats:  Cruz has an ERA of 8.10.  Carlos Suniaga gave up one run in two innings and has an ERA of 11.12.

Record:  The Kernels are 63-51, in second place in the High-A Central/West, eleven games behind Quad Cities.

FORT MYERS 7, PALM BEACH 6 IN FORT MYERS

Fort Myers scored six in the second to take a 7-2 lead.  The Cardinals did not get the tying run on base.

Batting stars:  Jake Rucker was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.  Patrick Winkel was 2-for-4 with a double.

Pitching stars:  Juan Pichardo struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  A. J. Labas struck out two in two perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  L. J. Jones was 4-for-5 with a home run (his seventh) and four runs.  Nathanael Heredia struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Starter:  Brent Headrick struck out five in two innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk.

Good stats:  Mikey Perez was 1-for-4 and is batting .529.  Christian Encarnacion-Strand was 1-for-4 and is batting .411.  Rucker was 2-for-3 and is batting .305.

Bad stats:  Kole McKinnon was 1-for-4 and is batting .176.  Misael Urbina was 1-for-5 and is batting .192.  Pichardo has an ERA of 6.39.  Labas has an ERA of 12.38.
