Minor Details: Games of June 17

Aaron Rozek and Cody Laweryson lead the Kernels.  Rubel Cespedes and Malik Barrington lead the Mighty Mussels.

ST. PAUL 6, COLUMBUS 5 IN COLUMBUS

The Saints scored two in the ninth to go up 6-3 and held on.

Michael Helman was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer (his second) and two runs.
Curtis Terry was 2-for-4 with a home run, his sixth.
John Andreoli was 1-for-3 with a home run (his fourth) and a walk.
Mark Contreras was 1-for-5 with a two-run homer, his seventh.
Jose Godoy was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Starter Ariel Jurado pitched three innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk and striking out four.
Hunter Wood pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two walks.
Dereck Rodriguez pitched five innings of relief, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk and striking out two.

The Saints are 32-31, in fifth place in the International League West, 1.5 games behind fourth-place Toledo, six games behind Nashville.

TULSA 5, WICHITA 0 IN TULSA

The Drillers scored two in the third on a balk and a wild pitch and led the rest of the way.

Matt Wallner was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Edouard Julien was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Dennis Ortega was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Starter Blayne Enlow pitched 3.2 innings, giving up two runs on one hit and two walks and striking out four.
Alex Scherff pitched a perfect inning.

The Wind Surge is 33-27, in third place in the Texas League North, a half-game behind second-place Arkansas, 1.5 games behind Tulsa.

CEDAR RAPIDS 3, DAYTON 0 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels scored all three runs in the fourth inning.

Will Holland was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Alerick Soularie was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Dylan Neuse was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Yunior Severino was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Cody Laweryson struck out five in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

The Kernels are 39-22, in first place in the Midwest League West, 4.5 games ahead of Wisconsin.

FORT MYERS 8, BRADENTON 3 IN FORT MYERS

Rubel Cespedes hit a three-run homer in the fifth to give the Mighty Mussels are 5-3 lead.

Kala'i Rosario was 3-for-4.
Mikey Perez was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Luis Baez was 2-for-4.
Cespedes was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer.
Carlos Aguiar was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, his second.

Starter Pierson Ohl pitched five innings, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk and striking out five.
Malik Barrington struck out six in three perfect innings.
Juan Mendez struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

The Mighty Mussels are 38-22, in first place in the Florida State League West, 7.5 games ahead of Lakeland.  It is my understanding that they have clinched the first half championship, although the standings board does not indicate that.
