OMAHA 10, ST. PAUL 0 IN ST. PAUL

The Storm Chasers scored seven in the first inning.

Curtis Terry was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Spencer Steer was 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Starter Jordan Balazovic pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing seven runs on seven hits and no walks and striking out one.
Drew Strotman struck out five in three innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.
Austin Schulfer pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.

The Saints are 36-38, in seventh place in the International League West, a half-game behind sixth-place Omaha, eight games behind Nashville.

WICHITA 7, SPRINGFIELD 6 IN SPRINGFIELD

The Wind Surge scored two in the ninth to go ahead 7-4, then held on.

Chris Williams was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs.
Matt Wallner was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his seventeenth and eighteenth) and three RBIs.
Andrew Bechtold was 2-for-4 with a home run (his eighth) and two RBIs.
Edouard Julien was 1-for-3 with a home run (his seventh) and a walk.

Louie Varland struck out nine in 5.1 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks.
Melvi Acosta struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.

The Wind Surge is 2-1, tied for first with Arkansas in the Texas League North.

WISCONSIN 2, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Darrien Miller hit a two-run homer in the second inning.

Wander Javier was 2-for-4 with a home run, his seventh.

Cade Povich pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk and striking out three.
Bobby Milacki struck out two in two shutout innings.

The Kernels are 2-4, in fifth place in the Midwest League West, one game behind second-place Beloit and Quad Cities, four games behind South Bend.  The Kernels won the first-half championship.

DUNEDIN 2, FORT MYERS 1 IN FORT MYERS

Rainer Nunez hit a two-run single in the eighth.

Keoni Cavaco was 1-for-4 with a home run, his fourth.

Marco Raya struck out four in three perfect innings.
Regi Grace struck out six in three shutout innings, giving up four hits.
Niklas Rimmel pitched 1.2 innings, giving up two unearned runs on no hits and one walk.
Matt Mullenbach pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up three hits.

The Mighty Mussels are 1-4, in sixth (last) place in the Florida State League West, a half-game behind fourth-place Bradenton and Clearwater, 3.5 games behind Tampa.

  1. I should note that Christian Encarnacion-Strand is on the IL with a concussion. I have no idea how serious it is, but I don't know if there is such a thing as an unserious concussion.
