Fall Festival: Games of November 3

Eddie Rosario drives in the game-winning run for Salt River.  A Scottsdale comeback falls short.  Twelve runs in one inning is always a Surprise.

SALT RIVER 1, MESA 0 IN MESA

TwinsEddie Rosario was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Max Kepler was 2-for-4.

Salt River:  Chad Wallach (Miami) was 1-for-3 with a run.  Anthony DeSclafani (Miami) pitched five shutout innings, giving up four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Mesa:  Nate Smith (Angels) struck out six in five shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks.

The game:  Wallach singled and scored on a Rosario sacrifice fly in the eighth for the game's lone run.  Mesa's best scoring chance came in the fifth, when they had men on first and third with one out, but a double play ended the inning.

PEORIA 6, SCOTTSDALE 5 IN PEORIA

Scottsdale:  Dante Bichette, Jr. (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.  Aaron Judge (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Ethan Stewart (Philadelphia) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Peoria:  Patrick Leonard (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs.  Cody Stanley (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Sam Selman (Kansas City) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The game:  Peoria led 5-0 after three and 6-3 after five.  Scottsdale scored two in the ninth and had the go-ahead run on base with two out.

SURPRISE 19, GLENDALE 6 IN GLENDALE

Surprise:  Hunter Renfroe (San Diego) was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his third and fourth), a double, a home run, and a walk, scoring four times and driving in five.  John Hicks (Seattle) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and a double, scoring three times and driving in five.  Matt Anderson (Seattle) struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.

Glendale:  Nick Ramirez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Scott Schebler (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a home run, his fourth.  Michael Strong (Milwaukee) struck out four in two perfect innings.

The game:  Surprise scored four in the first, but it was tied 4-4 after six.  Surprise then scored twelve in the seventh to put the game out of reach.  They batted sixteen, which included four walks, three errors, and only six hits:  four singles and two doubles.
