Well of course you knew this coming. Off the Mag Earwhig album. This is a stark contrast from its mid-90s (Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes) lo-fi sound. Not a lot of video's from this era so nice to see this classic live.

The Replacements — Bastards of Young
This performance got them banned from SNL for 30 years. I don't get it. Sure, there's the f word off mic, but other than that this performance is incender... incendiary (Spooky get's the reference). They should put this video in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (sorry may have to watch an ad, this can't be found on youtube).
Diarrhea Planet — Ghost With A Boner
There's no doubt I was starting off my week with this classic. DP is a blast live. This song pretty much captures it.
Riot Fest Recap
I was suppose to write a Father Knows Best post today but a couple of things are still in flux that I want to include so I promise I'll have one out in the next 2-3 weeks. I hope that doesn't step on anyone's toes. In its place here is a recap of my time at Riot Fest this past weekend. Continue reading Riot Fest Recap

Dinosaur Jr. — Start Choppin’
I think this song was played once or twice at the old basement but not this version. Fun to see a young J Mascus, plus I love the mod get-ups the band is wearing. Don’t see anyone plugging their ears so J and the crew must have the amps turned down a bit.
That’s it. Thanks for listening and watching Freealonzo’s Rock Week. Are You Not Entertained?

Soundgarden — Jesus Christ Pose
One of my favorite rock songs. Ever. Back when Chris Cornell still played guitar.

Redd Kross — Stay Away From Downtown
From one of the better rock albums of 2012. These guys have been banging it since the early 80’s as snot nosed punks. Thirty years hasn’t affected their ability to rock out however!

The Wedding Present — Dalliance
O.k., this one may be a little whiny which is the antithesis of rock week, but I love how it builds up at the end, basically matching the singer’s anger. So it’s angry, not whiny.

Built to Spill — Stop The Show
One of the greatest live acts out there. Believe me with three guitarists, BTS has only one setting: Rock!
