Minor Details: Games of 6/16

Twins affiliates get swept, unless you count the FSL All-Star game.  Two of the four teams give up eleven runs.  Twins affiliates scored that number if you add them all together.

LOUISVILLE 11, ROCHESTER 5 IN LOUISVILLE

Batting starsJ. R. Towles was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Clete Thomas hit a home run, his fourth.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Felix Perez was 3-for-5.  Michael Costanzo was 2-for-5 with a home run.  Corky Miller was 1-for-2 with a walk and a three run homer.

Key inning:  The fourth.  Already leading 5-3, the Bats came up with four runs to put the game out of reach.  The big blow was a three run homer by Scott Rolen, in Louisville on a rehab assignment.

ERIE 4, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting starsNathan Hanson was 2-for-4 with a double.  Rene Tosoni was 2-for-5.

Pitching starDaniel Turpen struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.

Opposition stars:  Corey Jones was 3-for-4 with a triple.  Ramon Garcia allowed only an unearned run on seven hits and two walks in eight innings.

Key inning:  The third.  Trailing 1-0, the SeaWolves took control with three runs.  Four singles and a sacrifice fly resulted in the runs.  Three of the singles were on ground balls, leading one to believe luck may have played a part in the rally.

FSL SOUTH 6, FSL NORTH 3

Oswaldo Arcia was 0-for-2.  Josmil Pinto was 0-for-1.  Daniel Santana was 0-for-1 but walked once and scored twice.  Ricky Bowen got the win with a perfect eighth, striking out one.

BURLINGTON 11, BELOIT 3 IN BELOIT

Batting starAdam Bryant was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Pitching starClint Dempster pitched a perfect ninth.

Opposition stars:  B. A. Vollmuth was 3-for-4 with a double.  Bobby Crocker was 3-for-5.

Key inning:  The second.  Already leading 2-0, the Bees scored three to make it late early.  An error, a walk, and a bunt single loaded the bases with none out.  Another error scored two runs, and a ground out plated a third.

Other:  The Snappers made five errors in the game.

DSL PADRES 11, TWINS 2

Batting starJonatan Ynojoso was 2-for-3.

Pitching starDamian Defrank gave up one run on three hits and a walk while striking out three in four innings.

Opposition stars:  Cristhofer Martinez was 2-for-4 with a triple and drove in three.  Franchy Cordero was 2-for-4 with a double.  Franmil Reyes was 2-for-5 with a double.

Key inning:  The fifth.  Leading 1-0, a seven run fifth put this one away for the Padres.  Luis Barahona had an RBI triple and Reyes drove in two with a double.  Eleven men batted in the inning.
