Just had to double check who "Noodles" was. It's Mastroianni for those others who missed the coining of that one.
I certainly missed that coining.
I thought "Maestro" was the given parlance.
Mostaccioli has gotten a turn or two. Hence Noodles, I guess. But I would have thought that applied more to Revere's arms.
Eh I'll call him noodles. His name sounds like pasta.
It does, at that.
but the "!" is missing off of Plouffe!
So, how bad is Span's injury? I haven't heard or read anything about it, so I'm getting a little worried.
It was listed as "day to day." Which we all know means "he'll sit on the bench for a week, try to play, realize he can't and hit the DL for more than the 15 days." I'm guessing we'll see him play the middle of next month.
He had a good career, no matter how short it was.
This however is not my fault - I say, blame it on AMR.
I went ahead and preemptively muted Dick'n'Bert and have the new Frank Ocean on spotify. I feel I made the right choice.
I'm pretty sure you did. Good album.
If you had muted him and listened to silence it still would've been the right choice.
You could listen to Deerhoof studio outtakes and it still would be a good choice.
You're upping the ante to dangerous levels.
Hang on - De Vries 2.1 HR/9 innings.
I was just going to ask what the over/under HR was for this game. Nevermind.
There you go, Miggy answers.
Got that out of the way early!
THIS IS ALL MY FAULT!!!
I rode the elevator down for lunch with one of the partners - an ardent Twins fan with probably 15 years worth of season tickets. He was on his to the game. He told me that he saw Cole at Starbucks this morning and told him that the curveball better be working. DeVries assured him that it would be. My reply was that if it wasn't, it would be batting practice.
Obligatory home run for domestic violence.
ARRRRGGGHHH
DE VRIES!
STOP. GIVING. UP. HOMERUNS.
It's too bad he's had to pitch so much. He's probably fine as a spot starter, but unfortunately he's become a main piece of the rotation. Brutal.
Fries just isn't a major league pitcher.
No, he's not, but he's been doing better than Duensing and Blackburn, and (insane levels of home runs aside) his peripherals have been better than Deduno's.
The fact that he's legitimately the second or third best starter on the team is pretty damning.
I'd put Dunce into long relief/mop-up and I'd DFA Blackburn.
I'd wait until Deduno's luck runs out and then I'd DFA him too.
I'd probably just send Deduno back to AAA, they need pitchers, too.
I dunno, I like DFA'ing.
I laughed.
His HR/FB isn't even that high. Higher than average, sure, but 15.6% to ~11% isn't that crazy. What is crazy is the 28.8% groundballs. Ouch. I wonder if turning him into a reliever would work well. He probably would never be an elite closer due to the home run problem, but his K/9 and BB/9 are decent and could improve enough to reduce the home run problem to a nuisance.
Yeah, that was what struck me when I perused his fangraphs page the other day. Under 30% ground balls. Crazy stuff.
If his GB% was better as a reliever, I could see DeVries as something like a Matt Guerrier clone in the bullpen.
Don't you listen to Bert? Solo homers don't count as runs.
Day games suck.
>Gameday says no out is recorded
>Out is recorded
Tease.
Or not? Gameday was confused?
yeah, they had Mauer lining out, and while Willingham was up, they were showing the Tigers batters for the second
Nooooooooooooo...Mauer don't let the trainer talk to you!!!!!
Somebody tackle him! Either of them!
Poor Joe.
That was certainly a rough inning. Four different foul balls off of him including one to the junk and another that managed to hit both knees.
Welcome back! Have a good trip?
A very enjoyable trip. I may write a recap one of these days, but I would move to Rio De Janeiro (in the winter) in a minute. I may have formed a slightly different opinion if I had been there in the summer when it was 104 instead of 80.
Only 104? Sounds better than the summer we've had in StL.
Good to hear it and I'd welcome a recap (as would everyone, I'm sure). Make sure you check out Buffalo's recap of the trip to Jacob's/Progressive...it's got pictures!
Guys, don't worry, I got this. The Twins are going to win this game.
It's sad how this season has gotten to you. You used to be so full of vibrant all-caps and exclamation marks.
Chief Tyrol is having to lunge all over the place this inning.
An inning full of True
OutcomeFialSEND HIM!!! π
hmmm, didn't work.
The winky face was the problem.
you got jobbed, Joe
Okay Cole has his 2 homers for the day, that should be it.
I'm worrying more about our batters
The Twins aren't going to score off Sherzer are they?
Or more like they aren't going to score for DeVries
Most likely not...boo.
Scherzer clearly isn't very good. He's not pitching to contact.
Miguel Cabrera there was the first time I've ever seen a batter besides Adrian Beltre immediately appeal his own check swing.
Dazzle admires Cabrera, but he seems to be the kind of player Dazzle would admire.
I laughed when Dazzle said that Max Scherzer had "195 starts" last year. Holy moly.
Iron Man Max.
Melky Cabrera w/high testosterone, eh?
If only they had gone one name down on that list instead.
Whenver I see those freeze frames of Prince, I'm so glad I can't hear what's being said about them.
For a soundtrack update, I've moved on to The Boy With The Arab Strap
I'm a little amused by Dick'n'Bert pontificating about how great it is that Melky Cabrera got caught cheating just innings (seriously about two innings) after Dick'n'Bert and the WASTE all joked about corking bats and rubbing pine tar on the baseball.
It seems like this game has been on forever. Lets score some runs Twins!
beginning to feel bad for Family AMR right now.
Yay Mountie!
Manship had their number. Who'd a thunk?
Jeebus Saves
This game is taking awhile, isn't it.

Just a tough day. Take a day off, boys, and come back strong this weekend. We'll just have to settle for 95-67!
