P. J. Walters and Kyle Gibson make rehab starts.  Logan Darnell shines in New Britain.  A strong outing for Brett Lee for the E-Twins.

ROCHESTER 3, INDIANAPOLIS 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting starsDanny Lehmann was 3-for-4 with two doubles.  Matt Carson was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, his fourteenth.  Wilkin Ramirez was 2-for-4.

Pitching starsP. J. Walters made a rehab start, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out three in 2.1 scoreless innings.  David Bromberg worked 4.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Brock Holt and Tony Sanchez were each 2-for-4.

Key inning:  The seventh.  With the Red Wings leading 2-0, Chris Parmelee and Carson hit back-to-back one-out doubles to give Rochester an insurance run.

OtherAnthony Slama struck out the only man he faced to get the save.  His ERA for the season is 0.73.

NEW BRITAIN 5, RICHMOND 1 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting starsDeibinson Romero was 2-for-4 with a home run, his seventeenth.  Chris Herrmann and Nathan Hanson were each 2-for-4 with a double.

Pitching starsLogan Darnell struck out eight in 6.2 innings while giving up one run on six hits and two walks.  Bruce Pugh struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing one hit.

Opposition star:  Juan Perez was 2-for-4.

Key inning:  The third.  In a scoreless tie, Herrmann and Oswaldo Arcia hit back-to-back doubles to put the Rock Cats ahead.  With two out, Romero delivered an RBI single to make it 2-0.

JUPITER 6, FORT MYERS 2 IN JUPITER

Batting starsJosmil Pinto was 3-for-4 with a double.  Daniel Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a home run, his seventh.  Daniel Santana was 2-for-5.

Pitching starKyle Gibson made a rehab start, giving up a run on three hits and a walk in three innings.

Opposition stars:  Terrence Dayleg was 3-for-4 with a triple.  Taylor Krick was 2-for-3 with a walk and two doubles.  Robert Morley struck out six in five innings, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks.

Key inning:  The fourth.  In a 1-1 tie, the Hammerheads scored twice to take a lead they would not relinquish.  Jacob Realmuto and Krick each doubled and Dayleg tripled.

ELIZABETHTON 7, BLUEFIELD 3 IN BLUEFIELD

Batting starsJorge Polanco was 2-for-4 with a home run, his fourth.  Joshua Hendricks was 2-for-4 with a double.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-5.

Pitching starsBrett Lee gave up one run on one hit and two walks while striking out eight in five innings.  Tyler Duffey struck out four in two perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  Santiago Nessy was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run.  Griffin Murphy struck out four in two shutout innings.

Key inning:  The first.  With one out, the next six Twins reached base.  A single, a hit batsman, and a walk loaded the bases.  Byron Buxton singled in one, Hendricks doubled in two, and Travis Harrison tripled in two.  With two out, Polanco hit a two-run homer to make the score 7-0.

GCL ORIOLES 3, TWINS 0 AT TWINS (GAME 1—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting starsJeremias Pineda was 2-for-2 with a walk.  Logan Wade was 2-for-3.

Pitching starKuo Hua Lo pitched four shutout innings of relief, striking out five while walking none and allowing just two hits.

Opposition star:  Domingo Salas struck out six in five shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk.

Key inning:  The third.  Leading 1-0, the Orioles added a pair of insurance runs.  Two walks put two on with two out and a double by Hector Veloz scored them both.

Other:  The Twins out-hit the Orioles 6-4.  All six hits were singles.

GCL TWINS 2, ORIOLES 0 AT ORIOLES (GAME 2—9 INNINGS—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting starBryan Haar was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Pitching starsGonzalo Sanudo struck out four in five shutout innings, allowing four hits.  Alexander Muren threw three perfect innings of relief.

Opposition star:  Elias Pinales struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks.

Key inning:  The ninth.  It was a scoreless tie.  Haar doubled and scored on a two-out error.  A stolen base and a Javier Pimentel single produced an insurance run.

DSL WHITE SOX 10, TWINS 3 AT WHITE SOX

Batting starsEngelb Vielma was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Junior Boni hit a triple.

Pitching starEdgar Martinez struck out two in a scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Jeffry Santos was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.  Jose Ariza was 2-for-2 with a double and three walks.  Marizo Buda was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Key inning:  The sixth.  In the top of the inning, two walks and an error produced one for the Twins, cutting what had been a 4-0 lead to 4-3.  The Twins put runners on first and third with two out, but a pickoff ended the threat.  In the bottom of the inning, two walks, a wild pitch, and a two-run single by Santos put the White Sox back into a comfortable lead.

Other:  There were twelve walks in the game, seven by Twins pitchers.
