Michael Tonkin has a good outing.

PEORIA 3, SALT RIVER 1 IN SALT RIVER

TwinsNate Roberts was 0-for-2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch.  Michael Tonkin worked 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing only a walk and striking out one.  Logan Darnell gave up a run on four hits, walking none and striking out two in 1.2 innings.

Game summary:  Cody Asche’s (Philadelphia) home run in the seventh broke a 1-1 tie and his sacrifice fly in the ninth added an insurance run.

Peoria:  Robbie Erlin (San Diego) struck out four in 2.2 scoreless innings, striking out four.

Salt River:  Andre Rienzo (White Sox) allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk in four innings while striking out five.  Jake Marisnick (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a double.

SCOTTSDALE 8, MESA 3 IN MESA

Game summary:  The Scorpions scored three in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.

Scottsdale:  Travis Witherspoon (Angels) was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and a walk.  Bobby Casevah (Angels) worked four shutout innings, allowing only one hit while striking out three.

Mesa:  Jonathan Schoop (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a home run.

SURPRISE 2, PHOENIX 2 IN PHOENIX (11 INNINGS)

Game summary:  Surprise tied the game on a wild pitch in the ninth.

Surprise:  Christian Vazquez (Boston) was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Kevin Siegrist (St. Louis) struck out four in three shutout innings.

Phoenix:  Christian Yelich (Miami) was 2-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Kyle Jensen (Miami) was 2-for-5 with a double and scored once.
