Mexican Matchups: Games of 11/11

All the Mexican League Twins did well yesterday.

GUASAVE 11, LOS MOCHIS 5 IN LOS MOCHIS

TwinsChris Colabello (Guasave) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Game summary:  Guasave broke a scoreless tie in a big way, scoring ten runs in the sixth.  Ivan Araujo drove in six of the ten runs, hitting a three-run homer and a bases-loaded triple.

Guasave:  Andrew Sisco worked six shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks.  Araujo was 2-for-4 with seven RBIs.

Los Mochis:  Jesus Avila was 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in one.  Jermaine Curtis (St. Louis) was 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.

MAZATLAN 3, HERMOSILLO 1 IN MAZATLAN

TwinsAnthony Slama (Mazatlan) struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits.

Game summary:  Mazatlan scored all three runs in the sixth, overcoming a 1-0 deficit.  A two-run single by Humberto Sosa put Mazatlan in the lead.

Hermosillo:  Humberto Cota was 2-for-4.  Todd Cunningham (Atlanta) doubled and scored.

Mazatlan:  Nick Additon gave up one run on four hits and four walks in 7.2 innings.  Oswaldo Morejon was 2-for-3 and scored once.

OBREGON 3, NAVOJOA 2 IN OBREGON (13 INNINGS)

TwinsGonzalo Sanudo (Navojoa) worked 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing two walks but no hits.

Game summary:  Navojoa scored both runs in the first inning.  Obregon tied it in the sixth and won it on a walk-off homer by Doug Clark leading off the thirteenth.

Navojoa:  Hugo Gutierrez pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Kraig Binick was 2-for-5 with a double and a walk, scoring once.

Obregon:  Rolando Valdez went seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks.  Alfredo Amezaga was 3-for-6 and scored once.

MEXICALI 5, CULIACAN 1 IN MEXICALI

Game summary:  Mexicali led 2-1 after one, then scored three in the second.

Culiacan:  Daniel Rodriguez (Atlanta) struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.

Mexicali:  Jorge Campillo allowed one run on two hits and a walk in seven innings.  Jon Weber was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in three.
