Logan Darnell shines in New Britain.  A big day for Daniel Ortiz.  Adam Brett Walker II does well for Cedar Rapids.

NEW BRITAIN 4, HARRISBURG 0 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars:  Daniel Ortiz was 3-for-4 with a home run, his fourth, scoring twice.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.  James Beresford was 2-for-3.

Pitching stars:  Logan Darnell struck out six in seven innings, giving up five hits and two walks.  Aaron Thompson struck out two in two innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Jerad Head, Justin Bloxom, and Destin Hood were each 2-for-4.  Harrisburg had six hits, all singles.

Key inning:  The first.  Danny Santana hit a one-out single, took second on a ground out, and scored on a Josmil Pinto single.  Daniel Ortiz singled to put runners on the corners and Rodriguez tripled them both home to give the Rock Cats an early 3-0 lead.

Batting star:  Adam Walker, who is now known in the box score as Adam Brett Walker II, was 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Pitching star:  Josh Burris pitched a scoreless inning, walking one.

Opposition stars:  Jake Stewart was 3-for-5 with a home run.  Austin Schotts was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored twice.  Brennan Smith struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks.

Key inning:  The seventh.  In a 2-2 tie, West Michigan scored five times.  Schotts hit a two-run homer, Stewart hit a solo shot, and neither of them killed the rally.  The home runs were followed by a pair of walks and a pair of singles, scoring two more runs and putting the Whitecaps ahead 7-2.
