A pair of rainouts.  Liam Hendriks doesn't seem to be learning in Rochester.  Four Fort Myers pitchers combine for a shutout.

Batting starsNate Hanson was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Jeff Clement was 2-for-4 and scored once.

Pitching starVirgil Vasquez pitched two perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  Jose Alvarez struck out eleven in seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk.  Kevin Russo was 4-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Nick Castellanos was 3-for-4 with two doubles, scoring three times and driving in two.

Key inning:  The fifth.  The Mud Hens already led 3-1.  Liam Hendriks retired the first two batters, but then Jordan Lennerton singled, Castellanos doubles, and Danny Dorn hit a three-run homer to put the game out of reach.

FORT MYERS 8, JUPITER 0 IN JUPITER

Batting starsJoel Licon was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two in his debut in Class A.  Jonathan Murphy was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.

Pitching stars:  Starter Tom Stuifbergen pitched two innings, giving up two hits, before being removed following a rain delay.  Cole Johnson struck out four in three innings, giving up two hits.  Dakota Watts struck out two in two innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Isaac Galloway was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Austin Barnes was 2-for-4 with a double.

Key inning:  The third.  In a scoreless tie, the Miracle scored their first two runs without a hit.  Mejia walked, Stephen Wickens reached on an error, Miguel Sano walked to load the bases, an another error plated two runs.  It was one of four two-run innings for Fort Myers.

  1. The Rock Cats have reversed the order of their starters. De Vries will start game one and May will start game two.

      1. Heh. Actually, I suspect I had it wrong all the time. milb.com had Trevor May starting both games. I was pretty sure that wasn't right, so when I saw a note that said DeVries was starting tonight, I assumed it would be the second game. Instead, it's the first one.
