Mexican League Playoff “Preview”

Again, "preview" is in quotes because the playoffs started a couple of days ago.  As you obviously know if you care, I'm still behind in these winter baseball reports, although I am getting closer.  At any rate, here's a preview of the Mexican League playoffs.

First, the final regular season standings:

Hermosillo, 42-25
Mexicali, 38-30
Los Mochis, 36-31
Navojoa, 36-31
Culiacan, 34-33
Guasave, 30-38
Obregon, 27-41
Matatlan, 26-40

The top six teams go to the playoffs.  One plays six, two plays five, and three plays four, each in a best of seven series.  From there, four teams go to the second round, the three winners plus one of the losers.  I think the loser that advances is the one that wins the most games in the first round, although I'm not sure of that.  I also don't know what the tiebreaker is.  At any rate, these teams are re-seeded and matched up in another best of seven series, with the two winners going to the championship round, which is also best of seven.

So, on to the playoffs!  Hope you enjoy them.
