Day five of the playoffs. Guasave loses a lead but still wins. Navojoa comes from behind twice. Guess what? We're all caught up!
GUASAVE 5, HERMOSILLO 4 IN GUASAVE
Hermosillo: Luis Alfonzo Garcia was 1-for-2 with two walks and a home run (his third), scoring twice. Edgar Quintero was 1-for-1 with a double and three RBIs. Juan Pablo Menchaca pitched 3.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk with one strikeout.
Guasave: Gabriel Gutierrez was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Zelous Wheeler (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs. Juan Delgadillo pitched seven innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks and five strikeouts.
The game: Guasave scored three in the second on a run-scoring ground out, an RBI single by Gutierrez, and a bases loaded walk. An RBI ground out in the third made it 4-0. The lead held until the sixth, when Garcia homered to cut the lead to 4-1. Guasave was still looking good, but in the eighth, Hermosillo filled the bases on a single and two walks and Quintero delivered a pinch-hit three-run double to tie the score. In the ninth, Wheeler led off with a double and scored on Gutierrez' two-out single to win the game for Guasave.
NAVOJOA 7, LOS MOCHIS 6 IN LOS MOCHIS
Navojoa: Genaro Andrade was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer. Roland Acosta was 1-for-3 with two walks and a home run, scoring twice. Wes Bankston was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
Los Mochis: Juan Carlos Gamboa (Mets) was 3-for-4 with a home run, scoring three times and driving in two. Jake Fox was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Jason Bourgeois (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a run.
The game: Gamboa homered in the first to put Los Mochis ahead 1-0. Acosta homered in the second to tie the score. In the third, Los Mochis got RBI singles from Gamboa and Fox as well as a run-scoring ground out to go ahead 4-1. Navojoa again instantly responded, getting a run on an error and taking the lead on Andrade's three-run homer. It stayed 5-4 until the eighth, when RBI singles by John Lindsey and Bankston put Navojoa ahead 7-4. They needed both runs, because in the bottom of the eighth a pair of sacrifice flies made it 7-6. Los Mochis could not get the tying run on base, however, as their last six batters were retired.
PLAYOFF STANDINGS
