Day fifteen of the playoffs.  A no-hitter for Escogido.

ESCOGIDO 6, LICEY 0 IN LICEY

Twins:  Dan Rohlfing (Licey) was 0-for-2.

Escogido:  Melky Mesa (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two runs.  Carlos Santana (Cleveland) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run.  Jon Leicester pitched five innings, giving up no hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Licey:  Yunesky Maya (Atlanta) struck out seven in 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.

The game:  Four Escogido pitchers combined for a no-hitter.  Leicester pitched the first five innings, Ramon Garcia pitched the sixth, Fernando Rodney worked the seventh, and Armando Rodriguez (Texas) pitched the last two.  The game was scoreless until the seventh, when Mesa hit a three-run homer.  Escogido added two in the eighth and one in the ninth.

CIBAO 6, AGUILAS 2 IN AGUILAS

Cibao:  Leury Garcia (White Sox) was 2-for-5, scoring twice and driving in two.  Hector Gomez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, his third.  Evan MacLane pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Aguilas:  Ricardo Nanita was 3-for-4 with a double and a run.  Zoilo Almonte (Yankees) was 1-for-4 with a home run.  Francisco Pena (Kansas City) was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

The game:  Aguilas took the early lead in the second on Almonte's homer and Pena's RBI double.  It was all Cibao from there.  They got on the board in the third on a run-scoring double by Francisco Peguero (Baltimore) and took the lead in the fourth by scoring four times.  Garcia had a two-run single and Alexi Casilla and Marcell Ozuna (Miami) had RBI singles.  Gomez homered in the sixth for an insurance run.
