  1. Yesterday I ended up doing a movie shoot that came a bit out of nowhere. The thing was an hour and a half from home and we didn't wrap until about 2:30-2:45 in the morning. It was worth it, though, as I ended up mostly talking to Daniel Baldwin (is this considered a name-drop, really?), who was hilarious, and got to hear a bunch of very...interesting...things about Eric Roberts, who'd wrapped a few days earlier.

I did plan to do the CoC when I got home, but I was done as soon as head touched pillow.

    1. Unfortunately, due to (billing) changes the hosting company did, I had to do everything live instead of on a different server and transfer over everything. The latter takes minutes while the former takes 2.5 hours. However, the server is now on faster hardware with faster software.

        1. Funds are fine. The hosting company got rid of the pre-pay discounts. The discounts might return, but haven't yet. To keep the discount, I have to keep the server the discount applied to, hence the slower process. I also re-deployed with a new image so we could move to the new hardware, and that further slowed down things. Plus took a short break to do some yardwork because help suddenly arrived.

      1. Hey, there that is! I can't manage to find the WGOM on the WordPress app on my iPhone (that is about the least useful app I've ever downloaded), but now I'll have the twitter feed, anyhow.

      2. Like I'd hit Twitter first.
Once I saw it down, I went to fb to send a message out in case it was a surprise.

  2. If the Wolves trade Love and name Sam Mitchell head coach, is there any reason to keep following them?

      1. Don't forget Pek! and Dieng.

That said, I'm still holding out hope that this is just that d-bag Wojnarowski stirring up sh!t.

        1. Me too, but Woj does have Kevin's ear, or vice versa. I can't even be mad at Love for wanting out of this sad ass franchise.

          1. Agreed. I'll root for him if he goes to a non-LA or NY team andI'll also be about at the end of my rope with the Wolves. It takes a special sort of incompetence to have fans happy for a once in a generation player to have a chance at a championship with a different team twice.

          2. E-6, I swung by your studio with my family on Saturday. You were busy talking to paying customers so I didn't want to interrupt. We enjoyed your paintings!

            1. Thanks for stopping by! Wish you would've said "hello", but the weekend can get kind of crazy. It's funny, I'd sold three pieces within the first 2 hours on Friday night, and thought that I was gonna have a great weekend. I didn't do any business again until Sunday when I sold three more.

I've long since reconciled that art for me will never again be a true "profession", only an expensive hobby that manages to pay for itself. I just covered my expenses (rent, some materials) a little earlier thing year.

              1. I had intended to do so but you were in the middle of a conversation and the kids were getting reckless. We entered your floor at the opposite end so we had already stopped by a number of studios before we got to yours.

As a complete novice to art, why does framing cost so much and is there anyone you use? It seems to me that a lot of the art was reasonably priced but I always get hung up on the price of framing.

    1. How bad of a coach is Sam Mitchell? Like, Terry Porter-level bad, or Rambis-level bad?

      1. He's hardly top shelf, but he's better than both of those cats. Took Toronto to the playoffs a couple of times, was Coach of the Year in '08(?) Think he eventually wears on players as he's a bit of a hard ass.

It's the Timberwolves. We can't have nice things.

        1. Never forget how Kahn and Taylor handled the Love deal last time. Never. Forget.

          1. I just don't see this team winning while Taylor is involved. I hope Flip proves me wrong.

    2. I followed this team from Gerald Glass to Wayne Ellington
if Love leaves or gets traded I'll still follow

      1. That's true enough and I'm sure I'm just all talk at this point. Wears on a man though.

      1. With things so muddled, the Wolves have to see who's interested and what they can get.

        1. I'm of the opinion that they have a better chance of resigning him after his contract is up than they do of getting anywhere close to equal value for him in a trade so they might as well let the contract run its course.

          1. My thought on most of this is that it's basically 100% that Kevin Love opts out of year four of that deal. That's probably been the plan since Kahn & Taylor stupidly gave him that ETO. That would make him a free agent, and "testing free agency." I think it's about 50/50 if he stays or leaves. Trading him seems awful, especially if it's for the platter of trash that keeps getting rumored as a trade from Golden State.

            1. But it worked so well when the Wolves traded Garnett or the Twins traded Johan. I say keep him and go for a title now and if he bolts, use the money saved in free agency for someone else.

  3. Talked a bit about birds here yesterday.
Today, I saw a Prothonotary Warbler about 500 ft from my house.
Another name is the "Golden Swamp Warbler" and this location is basically the furthest north they can be expected.
    They look like this:
    Protonotaria citrea
This is the bird that when I was little and looked through bird books, I saw it and said "Ooh, I want to see one of those!" 30 or so years later: right by my house.
Got a good long view of it, but I was pushing AJR and LBR in a stroller and they were bored.

    1. Very cool. We got the oriole feeder out early this year in hopes of snagging another Orchard Oriole. No luck so far, and since they're only in this area for a matter of a couple of weeks, we're probably out of luck for this year. Lots of Baltimores, though. Last night, Linds and I saw four separate pairs in the trees and on the feeder.

While golfing yesterday, I saw probably fifty yellow warblers. Hadn't seen any of those this year.
