  1. Oswaldo Arcia was 8-for-24 with three doubles, three home runs, and two walks.

And instead we get Chris Herrmann called up for "depth". Sigh.

      1. True. But as I say in my upcoming game recap,** that's not an excuse for the Twins. They knew National League games were coming up, they knew they were going to want another position player, and they knew that by optioning Arcia when they did, he would not be available to be that position player. In other words, the fact that we don't get Arcia now is not bad luck, it's a deliberate choice the Twins made.

**When I was in seminary, I had a professor who would often cite his own writings as authority for what he was saying. I always found that amusing.

        1. I read a textbook once on a subject rarely studied, so the authors frequently cited their own work. It makes sense, but the way it's written makes it feel like they're trying to pull one over on ya.

      2. I saw that Arcia wasn't eligible for recall somewhere else this morning (Ed Thoma, I believe), which I didn't realize when I was being cranky last night. I still don't really understand why he was sent down in the first place, I guess.

          1. I realize it's not that unusual for a rehab stint in the minors coming off the DL, but with the current bench, the outfield situation and the upcoming schedule, I don't think this was planned out as well as it could have been.

            And also,

8-for-24 with three doubles, three home runs, and two walks

            He seems to be recovered.
