  1. hj, do you upload new featured images by editing the post or by directly uploading the image and then setting it? I opted for the former and noticed yours as I uploaded mine. I set yours to today's game and can save mine for a future game.

    1. nah, i just threw it in the bank. i was going to be busy, and i figured if i checked in and an image was lacking, i could put that up quick if needed (there was no post yet when I did it).

  2. 11 pitches for Correia to get the first batter out on a warning track flyball. Not a good sign.

  3. I can get used to this having rotating analysts not named Bert Blyleven things FSN has got going.

    1. ubelmann once made the point that rotating analysts actually works better, because when you only have one, after a while he's said pretty much everything he has to say. I'd say that's definitely the case with Bert.

  4. I don't know if it's a sure thing that Ortiz gets 500 home runs. I wouldn't bet against it, but he's at 446 right now, which means it'll probably take him until 2016 to get there. He'll be 40 years old that season. I'm not that certain he'll still be a good player at age 40.

      1. Well, it depends how much he's got left. I mean, if he sits on 495 for a long time, and then on 496 for a long time, and then on 497 for a long time, I'm not sure how many tickets he's going to sell. I'm not saying that's what will happen, just that it's not impossible that it happens.

        1. I'm also making the assumption that the Red Sox in 2016 will still be interested in winning ball games, and if Ortiz isn't producing, he may not be playing.

            1. Jeter is hitting .271 with an OBP of .327. I'm not arguing that these are better measures than WAR, but they still go a long way with baseball people, and so allow them to keep playing him.

                1. Right. I'm not saying it's great. I'm saying it sounds good enough, as does the .271 batting average, to allow the Yankees to justify keeping Jeter in the lineup.

  5. Well, if the Twins weren't going to score at least one, they weren't going to win anyway.

    1. It should have never gotten that far. First pitch was up and in the middle of the plate. He needs to attack that pitch. That should have been off the Green Monster if not over it. He also missed a hanging slider before striking out on the one good pitch that was thrown to him, the only one that was down in the zone.

  6. the Landed Gentlemen putting it to the Tiggers tonight. Could we see KC in first place soon?

    1. 6-5-1-1-1-2
I'll take that from Correia every outing (ok, I would like a few more strikeouts)

His ERA has dropped from 6.11 to 5.29 because of his last two outings.
