  1. The nice thing about living in StL is that I have a team to "cheer" for, but I'm not so emotionally involved that I can't enjoy the game no matter the outcome. Now the non-Angels & non-Tigers games, on the other hand...

    1. Chen pitching for O's and it's not Bruce.
Seems wrong, but we has only an O for 3 years, while a Royal for 6.

  2. I had forgotten that Nick Markakis was still an active professional baseballer.
He had one season where he missed over 58 games and other than that has been active for full seasons since he was called up.
I guess that 2013 season with a .685 OPS (160 games tho!) led me to mentally dismiss him.

  3. I'm headed to the in-laws tonight, so I'll actually maybe be able to watch the Rs game tonight.
Watch Scioscia make some strategic moves to lead his team to win, just because I can witness it.

  4. Delmon with the hilarious post-game:

"What do you do to get ready for those pinch hit opportunities?"
Delmon: "To be honest with you -- check out my fantasy football team, watch some football..."

    1. And pray to God that they throw you a hanging breaking ball on the first pitch. Soria had faced Delmon more than any other batter on the Orioles. Why did he throw a first pitch in the strike zone, especially one down in the strike zone? That couldn't have been a better pitch for Delmon to hit. Soria's lucky it wasn't a grand slam.

            1. Yes, but you would expect a manager to say something like that after a moment like that. For a national announcer, it would be just stupid (which does fit Joe Buck).

    1. And in 1,066 games, he's been worth a total of 2.5 rWAR. And 1.9 of that came in 2010. 0.8 of that came this year with the O's thanks to playing very little in the field. So in his other 7 seasons, he's been below replacement level. He has a career 99 OPS while being a horrible corner outfielder and base runner.

  5. Strausburg getting raked at bit. Don't know Frisco that well, is that Jake Peavy dealing for them?

  6. Just saw the highlights and that Delmon was thrown a breaking ball. Why does he ever get anything other than fastballs?

  7. Watching with no sound (Teenage Fanclub). What's Peavy mad about? Can anyone ready lips?

    1. Peavy screams at self for walking Werth, then turns to ump and says, "Good job, good job!" No wonder the guys he's played with love him.— Peter King (@SI_PeterKing) October 3, 2014

  8. Joe Buck (although I think Buck has improved his baseball playcalling in recent years) and Harold Reynolds in the booth should make many fans heads explode.

  9. FOX talking to Drew Butera during this inning, his teammate are throwing sunflower seeds at him. hahah

      1. It's a collaboration with a winner of a homebrew contest that Stone ran. The guy deserved the victory, I tells ya. Not only is it delicious, it's unique.

        1. I'm glad someone deserving won. My homebrew competition experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth.

  10. Kershaw kind of getting knocked around in the top of the seventh. I don't think there's been an extra base hit yet, but he also hasn't recorded an out.

  11. Reynolds desperately trying to point out the importance of the sacrifice bunt, despite the 10-8 score.

  12. Why did the runner stop at third on the double? Holliday was going to 2nd the whole way. Not that it mattered.

    1. It was Ellis, the catcher, that stopped at third right? I'm sure he's faster than Pinto, but the third base coach might have disagreed with his chance at scoring even with throwing to second.

  13. "He pitched the final game, he pitched the wild card, and he's pitching tonight." Annnd that's not excessive?

  14. Tune in to see Salvy knocked.
Not good. He caught 150 games, I don't even know who the backup is.
I hope he's alright. Stupid Hamilton.

  15. I wonder if they'll do anything about the backswings of batters hitting catchers. I don't know how rare it is, but it seems like a great way to concuss the catcher.

    1. sadly, i fell asleep during the preceding commercial. how do people ever stay awake during late-night games?
FiL woke me up to tell me i missed it.
