Fall Festival: Games of October 10

Good days for Buxton and Rosario.  Salt River produces a flood of runs.  Aaron Judge rules in favor or Scottsdale.

SALT RIVER 12, PEORIA 2 IN PEORIA

Twins:  Byron Buxton was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-5 with an RBI.  Jason Adam pitched two innings, giving up one run on three hits with one strikeout.

Salt River:  Andrew Aplin (Houston) was 4-for-5 with a grand slam, scoring twice.  Trevor Story (Colorado) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Jayson Aquino (Colorado) pitched four shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks with three strikeouts.

Peoria:  Jacob Wilson (St. Louis) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in two.  Justin O'Conner (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Tyrell Jenkins (St. Louis) struck out four in four shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks.

The game:  Salt River broke a scoreless tie in a big way, scoring eleven runs in the fifth inning.  The first eight batters of the inning reached base.  They had five singles, two doubles, four walks, and Aplin's grand slam.

SCOTTSDALE 6, GLENDALE 5 IN SCOTTSDALE

Glendale:  Tyrone Taylor (Milwaukee) was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  Corey Seager (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.  Robbie Ray (Detroit) struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Scottsdale:  Aaron Judge (Yankees) was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Matt Reynolds (Colorado) was 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk, scoring twice.  Colton Murray (Phildaelphia) retired all six batters he faced, striking out three.

The game:  Glendale broke a 2-2 tie with three in the top of the eighth, only to see Scottsdale get four in the bottom of the eighth.  Judge had a two-run double to tie the score and Greg Bird (Yankees) singled in the go-ahead run.

SURPRISE 14, MESA 3 IN MESA

Surprise:  Kyle Waldrop (Cincinnati) was 4-for-6 with a home run and a double, scoring three times and driving in three.  Jesse Winker (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in four.  Josh McElwee (Texas) pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Mesa:  Chad Hinshaw (Angels) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Pedro Severino (Washington) was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Trevor Gott (Angels) pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

The game:  Mesa led 3-2 after four, but Surprise got five in the fifth and three in the sixth to take control of the game.  Sean Coyle (Boston) had a two-run triple and Waldrop a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
