Fall Festival: Games of October 15

A good day for Eddie Rosario is not enough for Salt River.  John Hicks provides a pleasant Surprise in the ninth.  Boog Powell goes deep again.

GLENDALE 7, SALT RIVER 5 IN GLENDALE

Twins:  Eddie Rosario was 3-for-5 with a run.  Max Kepler was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Jason Adam pitched one inning, giving up two runs on four hits with one strikeout.

Salt River:  Taylor Featherston (Colorado) was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk, scoring twice.  Joe Sclafani (Houston) was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Christian Bergman (Colorado) pitched three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk with one strikeout.

Glendale:  Tim Anderson (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Hector Gomez (Milwaukee) was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer.  Francellis Montas (White Sox) struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks.

The game:  Glendale built a 5-0 lead after three innings, then held on.  Salt River closed to 5-3 and 7-5, but could not get closer.

SURPRISE 13, SCOTTSDALE 11 IN SCOTTSDALE

Surprise:  Kyle Waldrop (Cincinnati) was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring three times and driving in two.  Nick Williams (Texas) was 2-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Ben Klimesh (Cincinnati) pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts.

Scottsdale:  Roman Quinn (Philadelphia) was 4-for-5 with a triple and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one.  Aaron Judge (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.  Tyler Rogers (San Francisco) struck out two in two perfect innings.

The game:  Surprise led 11-6 after four, but a five-run seventh for Scottsdale tied it at eleven.  John Hicks' (Seattle) two-run single with two out in the ninth brought home the go-ahead runs for Surprise.

MESA 5, PEORIA 2 IN PEORIA

Mesa:  Boog Powell (Oakland) was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, his second.  Cal Towey (Angels) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  C. J. Edwards (Cubs) struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Peoria:  Jacob Wilson (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Kyle Wren (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Nick Maronde (Cleveland) pitched two shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk with one strikeout.

The game:  Powell's three-run homer in the seventh took the score from 2-1 to 5-1 and put the game out of reach.
