    1. "Here’s a vulture that grew a beard to try to escape all the baggage of being a vulture, which might have worked had it come up with a cleverer name for itself than the bearded vulture"
Yeah, it did. "Lammergeier". Pretty much the coolest bird name of all. Trying to think of another one.

      1. Unless you're a German bird, in which case Lamb Vulture isn't all that clever. At least beards are trendy.

        1. My British "Birds of Britain and Europe" calls it the Lammergeier.
"Lamb Vulture" is pretty cool if you imagine it picking up lambs and dropping them on rocks like they do with bones.
Unless you're a fan of lambs.

    2. The Cock of the Rock was one of my favorite birds as a kid.
I had a red plastic pencil-topper and said it was a cock-of-the-rock when the bill snapped off and then I made a series of stories about it.

  1. Molitor’s coaching lineup still has six vacancies, and it’s not clear whether any of Gardenhire’s other coaches will be offered positions. Ryan said he and the new manager are working daily to fill the staff, with the biggest emphasis on choosing a pitching coach. Rick Anderson, who held the job for all 13 seasons under Gardenhire, will not return.

It seemed pretty obvious that Anderson wasn't coming back, but I hadn't seen it confirmed until today from LEN3.

    1. The first comment.

Souhan lost any chance of receiving a pass on anything he says with his Jerry Kill piece. There is no "benefit of the doubt" for him.

"Done in one", as they say.

    2. Unfortunately, the Twins allowed the "Joe Mauer is soft" meme to become entrenched a few years ago, and it's going to take a long and concerted effort to weaken it much now.

  2. ruh roh.

Do I wish [Wiggins] had some of KG’s dog in him, his competitiveness? Yeah. But that’s something that might come. But how I compare them is that they both talk about wanting to be great, they always talk about being the best they can be, they both aren’t afraid to work and their both two-way type players. That’s why they’re very similar.”
