Fall Festival: Games of November 13

A good comeback for Scottsdale.  Mesa misses chances to win.  Justin O'Conner secures victory for Peoria.

SCOTTSDALE 8, SALT RIVER 5 IN SCOTTSDALE

Twins:  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Jason Adam pitched one inning, giving up five runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Zack Jones pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and three walks with one strikeout.

Salt River:  Justin Bohn (Miami) was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk, scoring once.  Taylor Featherston (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Brian Ellington (Miami) pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Scottsdale:  Greg Bird (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  Aaron Judge (Yankees) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Steven Okert (San Francisco) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The game:  Salt River led 4-0 after two, but a three-run third and a five-run fourth left Scottsdale up 8-5.  Salt River did not get a man past first base after the fourth inning.

GLENDALE 4, MESA 4 IN MESA (11 INNINGS)

Glendale:  Mike Ohlman (Baltimore) was 1-for-5 with a home run.  Tim Anderson (White Sox) was 2-for-5 with a run.  Brooks Hall (Milwaukee) pitched three shutout innings, giving up only a walk with two strikeouts.

Mesa:  Jon Berti (Toronto) was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer (his third) and a walk, scoring twice.  Danny Lockhart (Cubs) was 2-for-5 with a run.  Ivan Pineyro (Cubs) struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing no hits and no walks.

The game:  Glendale had a lead of 2-0 after two and a half, but Mesa had leads of 3-2 after three and 4-3 after five.  Scott Schebler's (Dodgers) RBI single in the eighth tied the game at four.  Mesa left the bases loaded in the tenth and eleventh.

PEORIA 5, SURPRISE 2 IN SURPRISE

Peoria:  Justin O'Conner (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, scoring twice.  Kes Carter (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Aaron Northcraft (Atlanta) pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Surprise:  Hunter Renfroe (San Diego) was 3-for-4 with a home run, his sixth.  Mallex Smith (San Diego) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Nick Howard (Cincinnati) struck out five in four shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks.

The game:  Five singles in the fifth produced three runs and a 3-1 Peoria lead.  Surprise cut it to 3-2 in the eighth, but O'Conner hit a two-run homer in the ninth for some valuable insurance runs.
