Minor Details: Games of August 15

A hit barrage for the Red Wigns.  Felix Jorge gets his first AA win.  A near-sweep for Twins affiliates!

ROCHESTER 10, BUFFALO 4 IN BUFFALO

The Red Wings scored three in the first and three in the third to take control of the game.  Adalberto Mejia pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  D. J. Baxendale gave up an unearned run in 1.2 innings, dropping his ERA to 1.50.  Everyone in the Red Wings lineup had at least one hit and seven of them had at least two.  Wilfredo Tovar led the way by going 4-for-4.  John Ryan Murphy was 3-for-5 with a double.  Daniel Palka was 2-for-4 with a home run (his ninth) and a double.  Adam Brett Walker II was 2-for-5 with a home run, his twenty-fourth.  Mitch Garver was 2-for-5 with two doubles and is batting .357.  Byron Buxton was 1-for-5 with a double and is batting .324.

CHATTANOOGA 5, BIRMINGHAM 2 IN BIRMINGHAM

RBI triples by T. J. White and Zach Granite highlighted a three-run sixth that broke a 2-2 tie.  Felix Jorge struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and two walks.  Alan Busenitz struck out three in two shutout innings, giving him 6.2 scoreless innings since joining the Lookouts.  Stuart Turner was 3-for-4 with two doubles.  Levi Michael was 2-for-4.

FORT MYERS 4, BRADENTON 3 IN BRADENTON

The Miracle led 4-0 through four and a half and held on to win.  The Marauders put the tying run on third with one out in the eighth but did not get a hit after that.  Keaton Steele pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts.  Daniel Kihle was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 and is batting .303.

CEDAR RAPIDS AT PEORIA

Postponed due to wet grounds.

ELIZABETHTON 7, BLUEFIELD 6 IN BLUEFIELD (COMPLETION OF SUSPENDED GAME)

The Twins led 5-1 when the game was suspended, but fell behind 6-5 before rallying to win.  Amuarys Minier's RBI double tied it in the eighth and the Twins scored the go-ahead run in the ninth when Alex Kirilloff singled and scored on two wild pitches and an error.  Miguel De Jesus had pitched three innings before the game was suspended, giving up one run on two hits and no walks with one strikeout.  Patrick McGuff struck out three in a scoreless inning, dropping his ERA to 1.04 with 27 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.  Lewin Diaz was 2-for-5 with a home run (his seventh) and is batting .302.  Shane Carrier hit a three-run homer, his sixth.  Manuel Guzman was 2-for-5 and is batting .333.  Kirilloff was 1-for-3 with two walks and is batting .351.

ELIZABETHTON 4, BLUEFIELD 1 IN BLUEFIELD (SCHEDULED GAME--7 INNINGS)

The Twins scored three in the third and led the rest of the way.  Tyler Wells struck out six in 5.1 innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and a walk.  Elizabethton had only five hits, all singles, but grouped three of them in the third inning.  Manuel Guzman was 1-for-3 to keep his average .333.  Ariel Montesino was 1-for-3 and is batting .317.  Alex Kirilloff was 0-for-4 and is batting .343.

GCL TWINS 7, GCL RAYS 2 AT RAYS (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Lean Marrero led off a four-run fifth with a home run, breaking a 2-2 tie.  Jordan Balazovic pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and no walks with one strikeout.  Juan Gamez, who is listed as a catcher, pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.  Max Murphy was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .375 (3-for-8) on a rehab assignment.  Dominic Blanco was 1-for-3 and is batting .357.  Aaron Whitefield was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .315.

GCL TWINS 8, GCL RAYS 1 AT RAYS (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

The Twins scored three in the third and four in the fifth on their way to the win.  Clark Beeker struck out seven in five innings, giving up three hits and no walks.  Gorge Munoz was 2-for-3.  Justin Hazard was 2-for-4 and is batting .327.  Aaron Whitefield was 2-for-5 and is batting .319.  Brian Olson was 1-for-2 with a double and is batting .364 (4-for-11) on a rehab assignment.

DSL MARINERS1 2, DSL TWINS 1 AT MARINERS1

It was scoreless until the eighth, when the Mariners1 got RBI doubles from Ronald Rosario and Sebastian Ochoa.  The Twins got the tying run on base with two out in the ninth but could do no more.  Edwar Colina pitched six shutout innings, giving up six hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Agustin Marte was 2-for-4.  Darling Cuesto hit a home run for the lone Twins run.  Edgar Herrera was 1-for-4 and is batting .310.  Victor Tademo was 0-for-4 and is batting .321.
