    1. Explosions in the Sky - tonight!

I couldn't bring myself to get Dinosaur Jr tickets. I have rugby that day, I'm not gonna want to go to a concert.

      1. Well the Haggar tix were always available. GF got them from a client. The issue was she might have gone out of town this weekend. But in the end those plans didn't happen, so we're seeing The Red Rocker!

    1. Ayup ... promise to do better than my FKB post, which hj was even kind enough to send a 2-week reminder for!

    *Notes:
    2. How to credit this? It was first released on Analog Bubblebath Vol 2, as "Aboriginal Mix" by AFX, then as "Digeridoo" on the EP of the same name and the compilation above by The Aphex Twin, but those are the only two releases on which he used the definite article.

    3. Why is the album not just entitled "II"?

    4. Kandel recorded mostly as Tranquility Bass. This is an hour-long drone track that supposedly has no end and no beginning, though I can't say I've ever actively listened to the entire thing (to say nothing of doing so on repeat).

    5. Whitney should have kept soliciting new remixes until she found someone willing to title their remix "I Learned from the Beast".

    8. Way to entitle your Balearic/Trip Hop hybrid, guys!

    9. Again, not sure of the title, as the cover says "DUB COLOSSUS" across the top, and "A TOWN CALLED ADDIS" across the botton, with "IN" in much smaller letters centered above it. Is the "In" like a credit ("Dwayne Johnson in The Tooth Fairy") or part of the title (Orbital In Sides [itself a play on "insides"])?

  3. Pandora pitched this song from prog/fusion group FromUz (from Uzbekistan) ; I like the direction it takes ~2:00 in

And I'll one-up you with Chris Squire's bass

(waits for the requisite Rick Nielsen guitar image)

B1. Two-Headed Boy -- Neutral Milk Hotel -- In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
B2. Land Of Danger -- Guided By Voices -- Forever Since Breakfast

I ordered Not In My Airforce which is Robert Pollard's first solo album. Released in 1996, it's been out of print for years and being re-released today. Problem is it's only in vinyl and I don't have a record player (damn hipsters). I probably need to get one, so this could be the impetus. Also I am hoping there is a code for digital download. Comes with a 7 song e.p. as well.

      1. I own a second-hand record player and a couple dozen Goodwill & grandparent-sourced records, but the player doesn't have a stylus and I haven't sought a replacement out.
        -an aside-
I bought a set of fairly nice Bose speakers (along with a nice receiver and CD changer) with high school graduation money - first good stereo equipment I ever had. I later gave them to my best friend (in lieu of rent owed) before boot camp in '02.
A couple weeks ago, he gives them back to me, a bit dusty but still in working order, as he knows the story of their provenance and was going to get rid of them anyway.
I plugged them in last night and slipped in Siamese Dream. Nostalgia lasted about 6 minutes - reaching a crescendo with my wife coming down to the basement to complain, "It's too loud! Can you turn it down!?"

        1. There are only one or two things that are truly great about being single and living alone. Cranking the stereo whenever the Ef you want to is definitely one of them.

  5. I haven't bought an album from a new artist in a long time. Last year I think?

"This Diamond Ring" - Gary Lewis & the Playboys
    "Voiced Carry" - 'Til Tuesday
"Dancing to the Beat" - Clarence Murray
"Just One Look" - Doris Troy
    "Heavy Action" - Johnny Pearson

    "Sweet Jane" - Velvet Underground
    "Ohh La La" - Faces
    "Gathering Crowds" - John Scott
    "Roxanne" - The Police
    "1999" - Prince
