Minor Details: Games of July 11

Fernando Romero pitched well, but the bullpen and the defense gave it away.  A big day for Kerby Camacho.   Some good offense in the DSL, but not much pitching.

ROCHESTER RED WINGS

PENSACOLA 4, CHATTANOOGA 1 IN PENSACOLA

Max Murphy homered in the fifth to give the Lookouts a 1-0 lead.  It looked like that might hold up, but the Blue Wahoos scored four in the eighth to win the game.  They were aided by two walks and a costly two-run throwing error.  Tyler Goeddel had a two-run double in the inning.  Chattanooga did get the tying run up to bat with one out in the ninth, but a popup and a strikeout ended the game.

Fernando Romero struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  He had thrown just 63 pitches--it has been reported that the Twins are trying to limit his innings.  He has an ERA of 2.78 with 91 strikeouts in 90.2 innings.  LaMonte Wade was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Murphy was 1-for-3 with a home run.

GCL ORIOLES 5, GCL TWINS 2 AT TWINS (7 1/2 INNINGS--RAIN)

The Orioles took a 3-0 lead after two and that was all they needed.  It was 4-0 before the Twins got on the board.  Kerby Camacho doubled home a run in the fifth and Roni Tapia had an RBI single in the seventh to cut the lead to 4-2, but the Orioles added another run in the eighth.

Jordan Balazovic pitched three innings and allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Zach Featherstone struck out to in two shutout innings to keep his ERA at zero.  Camacho was 2-for-2 with two doubles and is batting .455 (5-for-11).  Alex Robles was 0-for-3 and is batting .341.  Royce Lewis was 0-for-3 and is batting .327.  Benjamin Rodriguez was 1-for-3 and is batting .311.

DSL NATIONALS 10, DSL TWINS 5 AT TWINS

The Twins had leads of 1-0, 2-1, and 4-2, but each time the Nationals came back to tie the score.  Samuel Vasquez singled home a run in the seventh to put the Twins ahead 5-4, but this time the Nationals did not settle for tying the score.  Instead, they scored six times to take control of the game.  They had only two hits in the inning, taking advantage of four walks and an error.

Luis Gil struck out five in four innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks to make his ERA 1.29.  He has 25 strikeouts in 21 innings.  Alberoni Nunez was 3-for-5 with a triple and a walk and is batting .310.  Ruben Santana was 3-for-5 and is batting .368.  Juan Martinez was 2-for-3 with two walks and is batting .328.  Estamy Urena was 0-for-4 with a walk and is batting .346.
