  1. Chattanooga and Montgomery have no score after one. Cedar Rapids and Quad Cities are just about to start.

  2. If anyone is so inclined, you should probably go to KC tomorrow to get a Drew butera star wars bobble head.

  3. Chattanooga and Montgomery remain scoreless in the bottom of the third.

Ben Rortvedt delivers a two-run single for Cedar Rapids. The Kernels lead Quad Cities 2-0 and are still batting in the second.

  4. Escobar's last 5 home runs have come off of Royals pitching. He's hit 6 total against them this year.

  5. I'm not sure how you write a rule that says you can be off the base if it's only for a fraction of a second, but I've come around on this one. Something needs to be different on slide plays.

    1. Make it an umpire judgment call on "having control of the base." Reviews determine if a tag happened before reaching the base or if you overslide.

      1. Could do it based on time off bag. Human reaction time is at best 200 ms. Anything less than that shouldn't count and I would be fine if it was higher, such as 300 or even 400 ms. It would be "easy" to count the number of frames the player was off to determine whether they had control or not. Distance would be another measure and better in theory, but I think that would be a lot harder to review.

    2. I'm ok with the idea that it's possible, but it needs to not be reviewable. If it's not noticeable by the human eye, then it didn't happen.

      1. To expand on that, reviews shouldn't be used in situations where there's an ump right there. I'm ok with it being used for home runs or outfield catches where there is a lot of distance between the play and the ruling eye.

  6. Chattanooga and Montgomery remain scoreless through five.

Cedar Rapids ended up scoring four in the second inning. The Kernels lead 4-0 in the top of the fourth.

        1. I thought it was pretty close, but admittedly didn't watch the replay all that closely on account of me being home by myself with the kids.

  7. Chattanooga and Montgomery remain scoreless in the top of the seventh. Montgomery is threatening, though, with men on second and third with one out.

Cedar Rapids continues to lead 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth.

  8. An error, the Lookouts' fourth of the game, brings home a Montgomery run in the eighth. Chattanooga trails 2-0 after seven and a half.

Quad Cities follows a walk with four consecutive singles. Cedar Rapids still leads 4-2, but the River Bandits have the bases loaded with one out in the seventh.

  9. Tomorrow we'll probably hear about how we need to add someone from Rochester because we need a fresh arm for the bullpen.

  10. The hotel WiFi went wonky, but I had written a comment quoting Han Solo as soon as Pressly was summoned.

  11. Chattanooga trails Montgomery 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth. They have a man on first with two out.

Quad Cities ended up scoring four in the seventh. The Kernels are tied with them 4-4 after eighth.

  12. Chattanooga loses to Montgomery 2-0. The series is tied 2-2. The co-championship of the Southern League comes down to one game, played tomorrow.

Cedar Rapids and Quad Cities are tied 4-4 going to the bottom of the tenth.

  13. A walk, a bunt, an intentional walk, and an RBI single by Josh Rojas wins it for Quad Cities. The River Bandits take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Game two will be played tomorrow, with the Kernels needing a win to stay alive.
