Minor Details: Games of July 19

The Red Wings fail to score in fifteen innings.  Brent Rooker goes deep for the Lookouts.  Aaron Whitefield delivers the key hit for the Miracle.  Tyler Watson pitches well for the Kernels.  Andrew Cabezas has a good game for the E-Twins.  Victor Tademo delivers in extras for the GCL Twins.  A wild pitch costs the DSL Twins.

NORFOLK 1, ROCHESTER 0 IN ROCHESTER (GAME 1--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

The lone run scored in the second inning on two singles and a sacrifice fly.  The teams combined for seven hits, with the Red Wings getting three.

Nick Gordon was 2-for-3.

Kohl Stewart struck out eight in six innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks.  Nick Anderson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.

NORFOLK 1, ROCHESTER 0 IN NORFOLK (GAME 2--8 INNINGS--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)*

With a man on second, an intentional walk, a bunt, another intentional walk, and a sacrifice fly won the game.  The teams combined for eight hits, with the Red Wings getting two.

Alex Perez was 0-for-2 and remains hitless in four at-bats.

In a bullpen game, D. J. Baxendale struck out four in 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and no walks.  Trevor May struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up only a walk.

*Game actually played in Rochester, but Norfolk was the home team.

CHATTANOOGA 5, MOBILE 3 IN MOBILE

Brent Rooker hit a two-run homer in the first and the Lookouts led all the way.  The BayBears cut the margin to 4-3 before Chattanooga scored in the ninth.

Rooker was 2-for-4 with a home run (his sixteenth) and three RBIs.  Mitchell Kranson was 2-for-4.  Jaylin Davis was 1-for-4 and is batting .306.  Zander Wiel was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .303.

Omar Bencomo struck out seven in 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and no walks.  Sam Clay pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.  Tyler Jay struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 2.88.

FORT MYERS 4, LAKELAND 3 IN FORT MYERS (10 INNINGS)

The Miracle scored three in the first, but the Flying Tigers got single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth to tie it.  In the tenth, following an intentional walk, a bunt/double play left Fort Myers with a man on second and two out.  No problem, as Aaron Whitefield doubled home the winning run.

The Miracle had just three hits but drew six walks.  Royce Lewis was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .348.  Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-4 and is batting .320.

Griffin Jax pitched seven innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks.  Jovani Moran pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out one.  His ERA is 1.00.

CEDAR RAPIDS 6, GREAT LAKES 3 IN GREAT LAKES

The Kernels scored four in the third, three on a home run by Ben Rodriguez, and led all the way.  It was 6-0 before the Loons scored all three of their runs in the seventh.

Akil Baddoo was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring twice.  Rodriguez was 1-for-4 and the home run was his eighth.  Jacob Pearson was 1-for-4 with a home run, his fourth.  Robby Rinn was 1-for-5 and is batting .316.  Ariel Montesino was 1-for-4 and is also batting .316.

Tyler Watson struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up five hits and one walk.  Jose Martinez retired all seven men he faced, six by strikeout.

GREENEVILLE 3, ELIZABETHTON 2 IN ELIZABETHTON (10 INNINGS)

Trevor Larnach singled home a run in the eighth to tie it 2-2.  The Reds scored on a ground out in the top of the tenth.  In the bottom half, the Twins hit into a line drive double play.

Andrew Cosgrove was 2-for-4 and is batting .333.  Yunior Severino was 2-for-5 and is batting .319.  Chris Williams was 1-for-5 with a home run, his eighth.  Ryan Jeffers was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .398.  Alex Robles was 1-for-4 and is batting .330.

Andrew Cabezas pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and three walks and striking out four.  Johan Quezada struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.

GCL TWINS 6, GCL ORIOLES 3 AT ORIOLES (11 INNINGS)

A squeeze bunt in the ninth tied it 2-2.  Each team scored once in the tenth.  The Twins scored four in the eleventh, with Victor Tademo starting the scoring with a two-run double.

Agustin Marte was 3-for-5 with a double.  Tademo was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Charles Mack was 2-for-4 with a double.  Erick Rivera was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Janigson Villalobos was 0-for-3 and is batting .327.

Kai-Wei Teng pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk and striking out four.  J. T. Perez struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA remains zero in 7.1 innings.  Petru Balan pitched three innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and striking out one.  His ERA is 1.50.

DSL ANGELS 2, DSL TWINS 1 AT ANGELS (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

The Twins tied it 1-1 in the sixth on a strikeout-plus-error.  In the seventh, however, a single, a hit batsman, a walk, and a wild pitch brought home the deciding run.

Victor Heredia was 2-for-3 with two doubles and is batting .368.  Ruben Santana was 1-for-3 with a double and is batting .327.  Jeferson Morales was 1-for-4 and is batting .316.

Yordin Mateo pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and a walk and striking out four.

DSL ANGELS AT DSL TWINS (2 1/2 INNINGS--SUSPENDED)

It was tied 2-2 when the rains came.
