Twins choose right-handed reliever Dusten Knight in the minor league Rule 5 draft. He's 28, has had roughly one full season in AAA, and is 3-2, 3.14, 1.35 WHIP there with 61 strikeouts in 66 innings (35 games, 3 starts). Looks to me like AAA roster filler. The problem is that we've seen too many AAA roster filler guys end up with substantial roles with the big club in recent years.
Local boy Brett Graves was outrighted to AAA (N.O. Baby Cakes) a few days ago; he was probably going to end up there anyway, but it was still a disappointment. We'll see what the Marlins' spring training brings.
Edwin Encarnacion is only going to hit 3 home runs at Target Field in 2019
This bodes well for the Twins winning an extra game or two against Cleveland for the division title.
Don't count on Encarnacion remaining with the Mariners.
