1. That play in the Cubs game yesterday where a routine ground ball to third resulted in one of the greatest baserunning exhibits of all time is something to behold. Not sure if this has been talked about here and my twitter on the desktop is screwed up or I'd show it here, so if someone can post it, that'd be great. Also, there were two outs!

      1. Ah, there it is. What a thing of beauty that was. Man. Play of the year. Just think if the Pirates had gotten the force at first, it would have all been for naught. That ball had to go into right field.

2. Is there a reason the Rays and the Phillies don't have a scheduled game today? I don't know if I've ever seen that on a Friday.

   (Wait, it is Friday, right? Please tell me it's Friday.)

   1. It's not Thursday, I'm pretty sure.

   2. Tomorrow is definitely Saturday.

   3. I know the Twins have had a Friday off in the past sometimes. Is it due to setting up the holiday weekend?

      1. They're playing each other, but only a Sat/Sun series.

3. Interesting NYT article on the 2 millionth run about to be scored in MLB. (or is it?). I'm old enough to remember how big a deal it was when the millionth run was scored.

      1. I was remembering that too and was going to try to look it up. I can't remember if it was right before or right after.

4. It's official now, I'm a member of the Minnesota Twins organization. After I do training I'm going to sign up to work every weekday home game starting with the Yankees series.

   2. I'm all signed up for training on Thursday, three Zoom sessions totaling seven hours. I hope this turns out to be as fun as it sounds in my head.

5. Sad news y'all:

   Some (truly) personal news: I’m ducking away from baseball writing, on more or less a permanent basis. I have a few loose ends to tie up for Penning Bull readers, and will do so over the next few weeks, but beyond that, I’m moving on. It’s been a good run.
