ST. PAUL AT IOWA

Rained out.  Will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

WICHITA 5, NORTHWEST ARKANSAS 4 IN WICHITA

It was scoreless until the eighth, when B. J. Boyd hit a grand slam and Andrew Bechtold hit a solo homer to make it 5-0.  The Naturals got four in the ninth but did not get the tying run on base.

Batting stars:  Boyd was 2-for-4 with a grand slam (his fourth homer).  Bechtold was 2-for-4 with a home run, his ninth.

Pitching stars:  Jordan Balazovic struck out seven in six shutout innings, giving up five hits and no walks.  Zach Neff pitched two perfect innings, striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Clay Dungan was 2-for-4.  Drew Parrish struck out nine in seven shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.

Good stats:  Neff has an ERA of 1.88.

Bad stats:  Alex Phillips allowed four runs in one inning and has an ERA of 5.01.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 32-27, in second place in the AA Central/North, two percentage points behind Tulsa.

CEDAR RAPIDS 8, PEORIA 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels scored two in the fifth to tie it and two in the sixth to take the lead to stay.

Batting stars:  Max Smith was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer (his third), a walk, and two runs.  Seth Gray was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Alex Isola was 2-for-5.

Pitching stars:  Jon Olsen pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and one walk and striking out five.  Erik Manoah, Jr. struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  Jordan Gore struck out all three men he faced.

Opposition star:  Moises Castillo was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, his fourth.

Good stats:  Manoah, Jr. has an ERA of zero.  Gore has an ERA of 2.95.

Bad stats:  DaShawn Keirsey was 0-for-3 and is batting .196.

Record:  The Kernels are 33-26, in second place in the High-A Central/West, six games behind Quad Cities.

ST. LUCIE 2, FORT MYERS 1 IN ST. LUCIE

Johneshwy Fargas hit a two-run homer in the first inning and that was all the Mets needed.  Fort Myers out-hit St. Lucie 7-3.

Batting stars:  Aaron Sabato was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Willie Joe Garry, Jr. was 1-for-3 with a walk and got above the Mendoza line for the first time all season.

Pitching stars:  Bobby Milacki struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks.  Osiris German struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up only a walk.

Opposition stars:  Fargas was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, his third.  J. T. Ginn struck out ten in six shutout innings, giving up four hits and a walk.

Good stats:  German has an ERA of 2.27.

Bad stats:  Jesus Feliz was 1-for-4 and is batting .158.  Justin Washington was 0-for-3 and is batting .174.  Will Holland was 1-for-4 and is batting .189.  Sabato is batting .194.

Record:  The Mighty Mussels are 33-26, in third place in the Low-A Southeast/West, seven games behind Tampa.
