Minor Details: Games of July 29

A big day for Jermaine Palacios.  Dereck Rodriguez pitches well.

IOWA 5, ST. PAUL 4 IN ST. PAUL (10 INNINGS)

A wild pitch brought home the deciding run.

Jermaine Palacios was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his eighth and ninth), a walk, and three RBIs.
Curtis Terry was 2-for-4.
Spencer Steer was 0-for-2 with three walks.

Starter Jordan Balazovic pitched 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks and striking out four.
Dereck Rodriguez pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and one walk and striking out three.

The Saints are 46-50, in eighth place in the International League West, less than a percentage point behind seventh-place Gwinnett, 13.5 games behind Nashville.

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS 3, WICHITA 2 IN WICHITA

The Naturals scored all three runs in the second inning.

Anthony Prato was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Leobaldo Cabrera was 2-for-4 with a home run (his seventh) and two runs.
Chris Williams was 1-for-3 with two walks.

Louie Varland struck out eight in five innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks.
Kody Funderburk pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and a walk and striking out one.

The Wind Surge is 14-11, in second place in the Texas League North, one game behind Springfield.

WISCONSIN 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN WISCONSIN

The Kernels had just two hits.

Jake Rucker was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Starter Cade Povich pitched five innings, giving up three runs on five hits and one walk and striking out eight.
Matt Mullenbach struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one walk.

The Kernels are 15-13, in second place in the Midwest League West, four games behind South Bend.  The Kernels won the first-half championship.

TAMPA AT FORT MYERS

Rained out.  Will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

The Mighty Mussels are 10-15, in fifth place in the Florida State League West, 1.5 games behind fourth-place Lakeland, eight games behind Tampa.  The Mighty Mussels won the first-half championship.

  1. Minor Details will be going on hiatus for a couple of weeks, as Mrs. A and I will go on vacation after tomorrow's worship services. If nothing unexpected happens, it will return for the games of August 15.
